Hi guys,

I have a collegue that uses QGIS and Postgis a lot and FME Workbench a little. Every time he asks me “Hey, I’m looking for some function that does this, where is it in FME?”

Of course he should use FME Workbench a lot more often, be he came up with the idea to generate aliases for transformers that are near like the names used in OGC or SQL for the same function. Is that something where you could do something about?

You can create these aliases yourself pretty easy. Step by step instruction:

1. Close FME

2. Take a backup of the file fmesuite.fmx (found here, or equivalent: \\FME2018\\transformers\\fmesuite.fmx)

3. Open fmesuite.fmx in Notepad

4. Find the definition of the transformer you like to add an alias to.

5. If the transformer already has an alias (i.e. an old transformer name) just add a space after the last alias and add your alias. If the transformer doesn't have an alias, just add ALIASES: followed with your alias between the headings VERSION and CATEGORY.
