Does the FME desktop have open ports listening for internet connection

Hi, I had a workbench with readers, writers and a few transformers, that was assembled in 2018, with the workbench configured standalone with internet access and i could not run it without the internet connection. once the desktop was provided with internet access, it ran as designed.

Does anyone know if the workbench is designed to run with open ports for web access? i am confused, as the workbench version has not been updated.

FME Desktop works just fine without a network connection.

Can you tell us more about any error messages, and if any of the readers/writers/transformers used by the workspace requires an internet connection?

I cant re-create the error messages because it was updated, once access to the internet was provided, and so now it runs fine. I remember the error messages were about being able to find the output file to write to
