I am using Bufferer to create a 4 foot buffer around right-of-way polygons. The tool works for 99 percent of the areas but I am getting a few random missing polygons as shown in the screen-shots below. I did find if I change the Buffer Distance one area will generate correctly; however, the issue occurs somewhere else.

Missing BuffersAny Ideas how to fix this. Buffer works fine in ArcGIS for the same features.

Hi @lance Thanks for the sample data and workspace. This problem with the Bufferer appears to have been fixed in the FME 2022.0 betas

Can you provide some sample data and workspace.

This behavior is odd but is usually associated with non-valid geometry.

Perhaps running it first through GeometryValidator or GeometryRefiner fixes this.

caracadrian,

I just tried both GeometryValidator using various issue filters and GeometryRefiner both with the same results. I have attached a ZIP file containing a sample workspace, fGDB containng the feature and generated buffer and a MXD (10.8.1). I added a point layer depicting a couple of the errors noted as run. If you change the buffer width the errors tend to move especially if changing between an even and odd value. Ultimately I would like to run this with a buffer of 1 or 2 to be used to select features within the buffer. As noted originally, if I use the ArcGIS buffer tool, it runs fine.

Dan,

Thanks for the information. Is there a release date for the final version of FME 2022.0? We are evaluating FME to be used to replace or augment our current processing workflows.

Hi @lance, FME 2022.0 will be officially released in early 2022 - likely March.
