FME ORACLE REader cant see the "raw" format columns

Hi there, I am trying to migrate Oracle dump datas into gdb. The reader reads every column except raw format type and giving a warning "skipping column". Has anybody have any idea?

Problem using arcpy module in FME 2013

Hello,  I started using FME 2013 a couple of weeks ago and I am having problems in importing arcpy module in a startup python script. Every time I try to run the process I get this message:  "Python Exception <ImportError>: No module named arcpy"  I checked the following article in FMEpedia and set the Path Environment Varible but the problem continues. On the other hand, I don't belive that I am having the second problem described in the article since I don't get the error dialog box.  http://fmepedia.safe.com/articles/Samples_and_Demos/Using-a-Python-Startup-Shutdown-Script-to-Perform-Geoprocessing-with-Arcpy  Anyone have an idea of what could be happening?  Thanks, Gabriel

Tiling Pointcloud and raster generation

Hi , I am trying to tile a process a point cloud to make a raster.  What I want to happen for each tile is Read tile boundary Buffer by 100m Clip point cloud to Buffered polygon Create DEM Clip DEM  to tile boundary Write the final output raster Now the problem I am running into is 4 (in this case) point clouds come out of the clipper and go into the RasterDEMGenerator but only 1 DEM_Raster comes out and not the 4 I had hoped for.    Also I'm wondering how to implement the clipping the output DEM to the correct tile geometry.  I suspect I need to implement this as a loop so that it steps through each tile.  Thanks

Is there MITAB Writer support for Korean Language?

Hi, I have a workflow which outputs MITAB in several languages: Arabic, Hebrew, Japanese  and Chinese Simplified. These come out fine when I check them in MapInfo using the Microsoft AppLocale tool.  Now I want to add Korean to the workflow but I can't find any option in the MITAB writer Character Encoding list for this language. Could anyone help confirm this is a limitation?  Thanks, Jason

Translating oracle dump into ESRI GDB,MDB

Hi dear forum users I want to transfer oracle dump features into one of the ESRI formats. I have a spatial Building table which have nearly 1.5m features inside.Here is the symptoms:   1) I am using Data interop extension on Arcmap 10. When i try them convert from ETL spatial tool; it waits too much when calculating intersections. Plus that; some of the string column records does not even loaded.   2) In order to see the string features i follow a way like that:    First i translate dump features into ArcInfo coverage. Then i create a feature class as the schema type in oracle and load all the data from coverage file. Is there a direct connection method?   3) quick export gives an error in the log file.  Thank you all.

Perfect Text to Annotation (Oracle Spatial DB to esri geodatabase)

Hi Guys,  My client currently uses autoCAD map and they store the data into oracle spatial DB.  My mission is to translate text to annotation.  Apparently autocad stores the TEXT in a field , justification in a field and coordinate using points and line.(Oracle Spatial DB). When I use geometry filter on text data, I will get point and lines, !NOT Text  My solution  1) I extract out the text using a series of textadder,coordinator extractor, rotation and setting geodb_v_align and  geodb_h_align.  They result is close but not perfect. There is still some alignment issue and text size.  The most irritating part is, when I open the original data using autocad and export them into a .dmg file and use esri toolbox(cad to geodatabase)  the output of those text are perfect.  ---------------------------------------------------------------------------  May I know is there a solution in FME to extract out this text perfect like how esri toolbox does?  Any hints will be greatly appreciated.

How to read an SDE feature class with fmeobjects in Python?

Does anyone have any examples of reading an SDE feature class with fmeobjects in Python?  I was able to do it with a shapefile without any issue but am having trouble figuring out how and where to specify the parameters for the GEODATABASE_SDE format.  I am using an SDE connection file if that makes it any easier. However, whenever I try to open() the reader it pops up the SDE connection properties dialog. I get the feeling I'm just not specifying the reader parameters/directives correctly, but without finding any examples of the proper format I can only guess.  Thanks!

Tester output to file

I have three testers operating on the same data, but each on a different attribute. I want to write the features that fail to the same file, with a heading or prefix as to which rule it failed. It could be a text file or excel file to write to, it doesn't bother me.  After that I want to email that file to a user, but that might be another question.

FME Server (2012 SP 2) - Direct Workbenches to only run on a particular Engine via Passed parameter

Hello,  A similar quesiotn to this has been asked (by  me :) ) but I am having trouble getting a FME Server to use a certain engine when the value of "Engine 2" has been set in a parameter or passed to a parameter to a called Workbench.  Via FME Server, I have a workbench that displays parameters to the user for certain info, this workbench then runs the transformer FMEServerJobSubmitter setting the values of the 2nd workbench.  The 2nd workbench has a parameter of fmeInstance. Doesn't seems to make any difference if I set the parameter or pass the parameter.  If I rung the second workbench directly, it runs on Engine2 correctly.  Any ideas?

accessing published parameters in custom transformer with pythoncaller

Hi All,  I've been working all day on the following issue (fme2009). I have a small custom transformer to log some information to a seperate log, this logging is done using a pythoncaller. I want to use this custom transformer on several places in my model, and retreive custom messages using published parameters.  How do I access these published parameters, I know that within custom transformers I should use FME_MacroValues['transformer name_published parameter name'], however the transformer name is the name of the transformer in the main model, and as such always unique.  Does anyone have suggestions to solve this issue?  Paul

Create a Reader based on User Choice

Hello,  I am currently using a feature type reader with the Merge Feature Type filter * - wilcard to load a reader from command line, ex:    --folder all --data fullcoverage (the path formed with publish params: C:\\all\\fullcoverage\\area.shp What I would like to do, is to allow a user to choose between a default reader (let's say, the YES choice, which would be the above example) or to allow him to insert a completely new path (the NO option). So, if the choice is YES, it will take him on a branch, if the choice is NO, on a different branch. It should work somehow like this: "--choice yes" -> would load the default reader C:\\all\\fullcoverage\\area.shp "--choice no" (should require the "--path" param where the user could indicate the path for a completely different shapefile) which should create a reader like C:\\cities\\test\\dummy.shp if the command is: "--choice no --path C:\\cities\\test\\dummy.shp" I hope I stated t

FEM 2012 Sp2 - Custom transformers, Loops, ExpressionEvaluator

Hello, Is there an issue with having an expressionEvaluator inside a Custom Transformer that has a Transformer Loop? I want to call a workbench passing a date of a possible file but I only want it to do so 32 times. I am using a creator to initialise a counter variable, (I am using Creator instead of having to read in features), then I set an attribute with todays date via DateFormatter, then inside the loop, ExpressionEvaluator to increment the counter variable, then a tester to make sure I haven't gone through the loop more than 32 times, then some processing on the date, and then the Transformer Loop to go back to the start where ExpressionEvaluator than is supposed to increment the counter variable again. When I the Inspection tool, I see that the counter variable and all the other variables are wiped. Is there a bug in 2012 SP2?

How do I create a holder for annotation?

HI,   I have some business logic we process to obtain the geodb_v_align & geodb_h_align for esri annotation.  I usually match it to the writer directly by exposing those columns.  but now I need to set those columns first before I filter them into individual layer and link them to the individual layer.  How can I do that?   Reason: I do wish to link each value manually to its corresponding writer. ( alot of work) and of cos for code neatness, I wish to ecapsulate the logic.

Given 2 Table A and B: How do I find records in A not found in B?

Hi,  I have table A and B with the same primary key.  How do I find all the records in that from A that does not exist in B?  Basically B consider of tables migrated and A is the original table. I wish to find all the record that I miss out or have errors after the "run"

FME Server Custom Web Page Data Upload Error

Hello everyone!  To Run my FME Server Workspace i used the "Developer Information"-Button and copied the HTML Code to my FME Server in the ROOT-Folder.  When i open the HTML Page via Browser the DataUpload-Page appears and i can search for Data to upload.  If i then click the "RUN" Button to run the workspace i always get "HTTP Status 401" Error: This request requires HTTP authentication ().  Any Ideas? I already activated integrated authentication in IE-Options.  Thanks in Advance!  Ulf

Prompt for 'reader'/ 'writer'

Hello,  I am quite new to FME and I am curious to know if there is a way to change the reader(s)/writer(s) using an interactive prompt box. To be more specific, in my projects I have 3 readers: ca/sacramento/address ca/sacramento/roads ca/sacramento/county Each time I go to another county, I delete the readers and bring the new ones in: tx/wise/address tx/wise/roads tx/wise/county I would like to make a variable %path% which should get a value from the prompt box (or command line) so in the end I have a general fme template which I can use by only changing the %path% once. In this way, maybe I cand run the program from the comand line, specifying the two parameters (state, county) and just let it run

How do you instruct FME to give you 0 results instead of -9999

Hi  I'm looking for the button/setting that allows you, when you have no data in some columns or rows or a zero value, to not put in -9999 and will just leave the cell empty or with a zero value.

Finding the N largest values in an attribute table

Hi  I have a shp file with a numeric attribute.  I can sort the attribute table on this attribute using a Sorter, but how can I then filter out only the top, say, 1000 features?  Thanks  Dag

Splitting a long string to fit into a number of shorter fields

I wanted to split some long strings (loaded from a text file) into shorter fields less than 255 chars. I chose 100 as a reasonable line length. The SubstringExtractor transformer works well, but it requires a whole chain of transformers. I thought I could use the new integrated approach in the AttributeCreator transformer to combine them to create bound0, bound1, ...  bound0 = @Substring(@Value(bound),0,100) bound1 = @Substring(@Value(bound),100,100) .. etc  However TCL  tries to evaluate the resulting string as an expression, it has trouble with "and".   AttributeCreator: Failed to evaluate TCL expression: and along the AttributeCreator: TCL Error Message: invalid bareword "and" in expression "and along the"; should be "$and" or "{and}" or "and(...)" or ...    I don't want it evaluated.  I cannot see a way of escaping the substring.  I have tried enclosing the expression in quotes  \\"@Substring(...)\\"

FME: How to consolidate all the feature classes not committed to anywhere?

Hi,  May I know how can I find all the feature class that has not been committed after a run?  Yes I know how to save those feature that have error/ignored by setting the writter but there are those that are miss out because they are not commited anywhere.  I do not wish to manually route them to a database or shape files because it can be quite a tedious task.  May I know if there is anywhere to say all feature classes not saved to be commited into a file or database table?

Sql Executor and Workspace runner

Hi, I got a translation going on with few sql executors and a workspacerunner .A sql executor is placed after Workspace runner as well.Now a strange thing is observed when I set the "wait for job to complete" as yes the oracle procedures are called from executors and are reflected in the table. But when set to no ,none of the procedures seem to work though the log shows them being called . Is this a bug ?

Using FME to update geodatabase metadata

I am trying to figure out how to update the metadata in a ESRI geodatabase. It isn't metadata for a featureclass, but the metadata for the geodatabase as a whole. I'm just not sure which writer/options to use to allow me to update it.
