Fmeserver : Choice (multiple)

Hello everybody,  I have one workspace with Choice (multipe) publish parameter. When I publish this workspace on my fmeserver, the traduction of the publish parameter is a succession of lines below each other with checkboxes for each line. Is there a solution to have this publish parameter like fme desktop ?  thank you  Raphael

Geoid models newer than 2003

Is there a reason that FME 2013 does not contain any geoids newer than 2003 in the \\Reproject\\GeoidHeightGrids\\Usa or \\Reproject\\GridData\\Usa directories?  It looks like I could just download newer .bin files from NGS and create my own .gdc file to reference them, to gain access to the 2009, 2012, or 2012A geoid, but I'm concerned that they were ommitted for a subtle reason that means that will not work.  I intend to use the CsmapReprojector to do ellipsoid/geoid conversions using them.  Is there something I'm missing, or can I just make the new gdcs as I suspect?

How to add table that name begin with certain characters

Hi,  I have a directory with many sub-directories that contain many tables. I would like to add to the Reader only the table that name begin with certains characters  Schema:  Main_Dir      Sub_Dir_1             table_x_1             table_y_1             table_z_1             new_table_1      Sub_Dir_2             table_x_2             table_y_2             table_z_2             new_table_2      Etc...  I would like to add to Reader only the tables that begin with "new"  Thank you very much for your help

File Not Being Written

Fellow FMEers, This must be a simple one but I’m stumped.  I just started with FME Server and I want to include some documents with the zip file that downloaded by the user.  I have a workspace that grabs an ArcOnline image and saves it as a JPEG in a folder.   In the same workspace is a datafile reader/writer pair that copies a file (found via UNC path on the server) to the same folder as the image.  When I run the workspace on my desktop I get both the image and the doc but when I publish to Server I only get the image.  Any one able to guess what I’m missing? Thanks, Alan

Predict processing time

Hi,  Is there a way that FME can predict how long a process will run? Running a subset is not an option as the processing time is not linear in most cases. It would be nice to know in advance when (rough estimaion) the process will finish.  Regards, Rob

Error fetching dynamic schema definitions from reader

I have a workspace with three FeatureReaders (two reading multiple datasets from two different SDE databases) and one reading a single zipped shapefile from a URL. They are all written to a Generic writer with the dynamic schema setting that is getting the schemas from Workspace Resources (Reader as Resource), one for each datasource (FeatureReader). I also have published and private parameters set to allow the user to pick one or more datasets from one or more FeatureReaders to run through the workspace.  This works fine for the SDE datasets, but when the zipped shapefile is selected, the translation fails with the following error:   UniversalReader -- readSchema resulted in 0 schema features being returned Shape Reader: No Shape files found in specified directory 'C:/Users/cw0157/AppData/Local/Temp/2/HAZ_HW_SITES.zip_1372349846576_4848'. Any way to stop overwriting Geometry

Hi,   My fme read a point feature having one point geometry.But when i use a text stroker, resultant geometry overwrites previous point geometry. If i create another point then textStroker do not work. Same happens if i fetch wkt text from database and use geometryReplacer to create geometry, it also replaces old point. This point is important. Is there any way to keep both geometries?  Thanks. Subrat

Modifying Publish parameter inside python caller

I need to collect fme_feature_type for all features read by workbench1 Reader and concanate them and pass them to workbench2 publish parameter in shutdown script. I think any attribute created within workbench will not be available in shutdown script. So, i choose publish parameter to be my carrier. After reader, inside a python caller i fetch fme_feature_type and append it to publish parameter. When i print it, i can see all names. But when i try to access it inside shutdown script, it only retains initial values.  Is there any way to solve this problem?  Subrat.

How do I create an arc using a bulge value at runtime?

Hi, I need to create a polyline. Some parts of the polyline are arcs.  I know I can use the Creator transformer to set start- and endpoint and the bulge parameter. But I am reading the paramters from a database at runtime so I need to be able to set the values in the Creator at runtime.  I also tried the 2DArcReplacer but there isn't a bulge parameter. So I will have to calculate the points instead. (I can do that but I was hoping to awoid that.)  Regards /Tim

SpatialRelator: using outputs in ListHistogrammer

Hello,  Being new to FME, I am looking for what probably is a simple answer (at least so I hope!).  Here's the case: I have a set of line features for which are supposed to be connected to point features at either end. I want to test this relationship, and obtain the total number of connected and non connected lines.  I use SpatialRelator to test the spatial relationship between the two feature classes. After this, I figured I should use ListHistogrammer in order to obtain the list I want, by computing the histogram for the "Related Candidate Count Attribute". This should result in a histogram for the values 0 (not connected on both ends), 1 (connected on 1 end) and 2 (connected on both ends).  However, when using the output from the SpatialRelator as input for the ListHistogrammer, I have no possibility to select the field I want (which I called Join_Count for ease of reference). How can I use the input for the SpatialRelator for the ListHistogrammer, and how do I obtain

HI Stefen,    SpatialRelator: When I put the line.shp into the Base port and the polygon.shp into the Candidate port. In the transformer properties I set 'Tests to perform to TOUCHES'.  Result is all the line.shp?? Allowed Geometries for line is "Shape_polyline" and for Polygon is "shape_polygon"?    And if the Result is one spot where the line intersects the polygon I can put outpout point.shp?? But Output is a line...    I'm new user without formation on FME...

CAD(polyline) to GIS(polygon) conversion

I have CAD floorplans (DWG) as polylines and I want to convert them into individual room polygons with the appripriate attributes (room number, size, etc.) to be used in ArcGIS (shapefiles or geodatabase feature classes). If possible I would like to have automated updates for when an AutoCAD file is updated. Is this possible? How would I go about setting something like this up? Thanks.

SQL Executor in FME 2013

Hi,  I am using SQL Executor for fetching geometry and associated attributes(stored as a single row records in a table) from a table based on value parameters which I pass to SQLExecutor query, the SQL statement in the SQLExecutor goes like.  select * from [tablename] where [attribute]=@value[attribute] and [attribute]=@value[attribute]  When I execute this query to generate attributes to expose it gives me ORA-00936 missing expressions error. But if I continue the execution without it it fetches the desired geometry minus its attributes. If I mention to fetch attributes in the SQL statement instead of *, it fetches the attributes but not the geometry.  I've tried using Joiner but it doesn't get geometries.  This transformer is giving me a very hard time, can anybody please help me on this.  IMRAN

Writing to SDE 9.3 and Oracle 10G with FME 2012 SDE Writer Error while inserting table into stream for table ERROR Code (-38)

Good Day, Not a question but rather a discovery which may be of use to some others out there. I realize there are newer versions of all the mentioned systems but for a number of reasons the client is required to utilize these.  So on to the problems: 1. All Feature Types (SDE layers) are created in SDE prior to running FME so Writers are created using Import Feature Types rather than using FME to create the layers. Again this is required as part of the business process. In order for FME to recognize these tables as spatial they must be opened in ArcCatalog/ArcMap first to initialize them without doing this FME tries to insert a NULL/nil geometry and fails. 2. For one particular non-spatial Feature Type, FME kept indicating that there was a missing column although did not specify which one. Google searches indicated it was likely an underlying issue with the SDE table. To try and determine the issue, we dropped and recreated the table, removed any contraints, keys etc but still no luck.

Insert Feature with multiple Geometry column in oracle spatial

Hi,  I want to insert data in a feature having multiple geometry columns. I have tried the steps given in demos http://fmepedia.safe.com/articles/Samples_and_Demos/Oracle-Spatial-Object#heading_toc_j_6 , but this is not working. The writer is inserting null in both the geometry columns. I have also ensured proper entries in metadata. I am using fme desktop 2013. Please Help.  Thanks, Nikit Bakiwala

Setting Dynamic (Oracle) Writer's Feature Type Name?

Hi there,  I have one workspace that reads from a Oracle table containing names of source feature types (to read) and  target feature types (to write), along with a few other parameters.   This workspace passes the name pair to WorkspaceRunner, evoking another workspace that reads the source feature type and wirtes to the target feature type in Oracle.   I was able to pass target feature type name as parameter to non-database Writers such as GML Writer, but in the case of Oracle Writer, I could not figure out how this could be accomplished.   I think I have done pretty thorough search on various sources including this link  http://evangelism.safe.com/fmeevangelist31/ with no avail.  But it is possible I may have missed some thing obvious.  I appreciate very much any help from the FME community, as always.  Bo

GeometryExtractor then ??

I have successfully set up a Garrmin GDB file reader and retrieved waypoints stored in the file.  I then used the Geometry Extractor using the FME XML Encoding and assigned it to the default attribute _geometry.  When I inspected the data, I see that the attribute _geometry does indeed have XML data along with the associated X Latitude and Y Longitude coordinates.  My question:  Is there a translator to extract the X and Y values separately and store them in new attrigutes associated with each point, say Latitude and Longitude, or do I need to use the StringExtractor to get this data?  Here is a sample of the XML data on the first data point:  <?xml version="1.0" encoding="US_ASCII" standalone="no" ?><geometry><point><coord x="-93.879491630999993" y="29.763959543999999"/></point></geometry>

Calling FME workBench from shutdown script

Hi, I have two workbenches. First one's publish parameter has all feature list, which i need to pass to 2nd workbench's reader. Unfortunately, i cant use workspace runner as i need to call after writers write into database. I can pass hard coded values but how should i pass parameters?  Thanks, Subrat

Set attribute to defined if source contains string

So I have an attribute (TYPE)  that has several different values like WEST RAMP and GENERAL PARKING. I need a way to search that field and find values that contain "PARKING" or "RAMP" and map them appropriately. I was hoping to find a batch way of doing it since I have about 15 different destination values and would rather not have 15 StringSearchers. I thought about using a TestFilter but 15 output ports with AttributeSetter's isn't too clean.  Any thoughts? PythonCaller maybe?

SystemCaller execute 32bit out of 64bit FME

Hello  I am currently trying to call a FME 2013 32bit script out of a FME 2013 64bit script. I do this because 64bit does not support the 3D-PDF writer. I chose the SystemCaller transformer because in the WorkspaceRunner I could not find any options to choose the FME engine I would like to run and so it will always start the script in 64bit mode.  So with a concatenator i prepare my command that I pass over to the SystemCaller. I prepare following string:  "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\FME2013_x86\\fme.exe" D:/Path/3DPDF.fmw [--Parameter1 {$(Parameter1)}] [--AttributeA{@Value(AttributeA)}] [--AttributeB {@Value(AttributeB)}] [--Parameter2 {$(Parameter2)}]  It seems that at least starting the 32bit enginge is working because I get: SystemCaller: Executing `"C:\\Program Files (x86)\\FME2013_x86\\fme.exe...etc... FME 2013 SP1 (20130319 - Build 13448 - WIN32)...etc... ...FME Version Infos and Licensing infos and so on...  But then it says: Parameter 'Parameter1' must be

Overlapping Clipper - which one is used

Hi, I have a set of line features and I want to add an attribute from a polygon feature with the clipper transformer to the lines within the polygon. It is possible, that lines are within multiple polygons. For example: lines are within a small polygon and this polygon lies within a larger polygon. So which polygon is used by the clipper? In my case it should be the smaller one. I'm thinking about sorting the polygons by ascending area-size, so that the smaller on is first input to the clipper. Or does the clipper automatically use the smaller polygon?

How do I create a summary table of all points inside specific polygon geometries?

Hi All,  What I am trying to achieve is a Spatial Join of all points which fall inside a specific polygon and then summarise these like a cross tab against each electoral ward area. So far, I have found the SpatialRelator and Statistics Calculator to try and achieve this.  Can anyone suggest a better method of point me in the right direction?  Thanks,  Gary

Is it just me or did the Filename/Directory difference on input/output-files moving from Desktop to Server just get a little bit better on FME2013 SP2 vs FME2013 SP1 ?  Also I just discovered the File Copy WRITER - will for sure be handy!
