SliverRemover finish without output

I ran SliverRemover on polygon table expecting an output but the translation finished without error and without output. First time I see this in FME. What am I doing wrong? CollinearSliverRemover wrong result

Hi, I am testing the ColinearSliverRemover found in FME Store. I have tested it with many dataset and sample and I always have weird results that can be describe as line spreading from particular points and going to infinite in all directions. I suppose there is a problem in the input data but it had been through the GeometryValidator before the ColinearSliverRemover with only the Valid connected. Someone can tell me what could be the possible cause of these weird lines? Thank you

How To Create DWG Data With Layout (autocad_space is paper space?

Hello, Everyone There I have a question that how To create DWG data With layout (autocad_space is paper space?? I read a DWG data, its autocad_space attribute may be model space, or may be paper space. There if the autocad_space is paper space, the data is layout in CAD; if the autocad_space is model space, the data is model in CAD. My goal is write it into DWG file with autocad_space is paper space. But in default, it will be writed into model space. What should i do to solve this problem? Looking forward your answers!!! zxq

Tab - DXF AutoCad Hatching Problem

When converting OSTopo in Tab format into DXF or DWG for autocad I am having aweful problems with the final product. When I open the file in the Universal Translator it looks apsolulty fine. However when my colleagues open it in AUTOCad certain areas are for better word, filled in, solid. When investigating this I have come to the conclusion that the areas that are good are polylines but the other areas are Hatch. In QGIS the attribute table shows them as having a sub class of AcDbEntity: AcDbHatch and Text as SOLID. The good areas show the subclass as AcDbEntity:AcDbPolyline and no Text. This is not usful and causing all sorts of problems. I can not seem to reslove the issue, does any one have any ideas?

how to convert some feature to the layout(paperspace) in CAD

I really want to read and write the entities in the two kind of space including model and paper in CAD .However, in FME, I only can read those entity in paper space , it is badly dificult to write these entity to the paper space of dwg file. What I want is that some suggestions about how to creating paper space or transform the feaures from model space to paper space. It's no better that give me the FME model of solve it. Thank you very much!

file name renamer (based on attrib item and folder location)

Hello, I have a point.shp with items of X_coord and Y_coord, which is the centroid location. Eventually will have some 10,000's of images in folders and subfolders. I can do via QGIS, GDAL, excel, and DOS, but i'd like to see if FME has more streamlined process. Trying to rename Images and Image world files recursively and with subfolders. for example; existing file(s): 0805_IDA_STR233_001.ecw \\ .eww XY_concat: 1549962.5_16362527.5 Folder location: S:\\GO_GO_02\\CAD\\GIS\\GIS3\\Reports\\Ortho\\0805\\0805_IDA_STR233 New file(s) rename: 1549962.5_16362527.5_0805_001 I have seen some mentions of python scripts inside FME to perform the renaming, and this may work if there are no transformers available, but then might as well use the DOS RENAME feature. Thoughts, RL

DWG 3D Polyline to SHP elevation attribute

I have a DWG file with 3D polylines that I want to write to Shape file with an attribute for the elevation. I cannot see this attribute in the Reader anywhere. There are lots of Format Attributes but nothing stands out as being the Z value I need. Any thoughts?

Passing Parameters in FME Server

Hello FME Universe, I have created a project that consists of 7 different FME workspaces which have been published to FME server and are meant to be run as a chain via notifications (When WS1 is successful, run WS2, When WS2 is sucessfull, etc.). All of these workspaces have a seperate output DWG file that gets stored in a temporary folder where a final workspace combines all *.dwg files into one final output, places it on a shared drive and then through a python shutdown script, sends an email to me and deletes the output folder. Now here is the problem, all of this works perfectly fine for me. But in order to make it universal so that my office can use it, I need to change certain parameters to have access to the FME system parameter $(FME_SECURITY_USER) (such as the temporary output folder so that it will read something like C:\\Temp\\$(FME_SECURITY_USER)\\*.dwg). Now this works fine for the first workspace (the one the external user initiates) and creates the folder C:\\Temp\\Dav

recursive RasterCoercer success, then failure

Hi, I'm relatively new to FME and having inital success with the recursive rastercoercer, however after success on 6 files, my FME workbench log begins to reports failure after the first 6 saying; "Unable to open output file 'V:\\WORKING_TEST_AREA\\imagedata\\0800_ASK_W3309\\FME_out\\0800_ASK_W3309_012.dbf' -- check that the directory exists, close any other programs, and try again" and this continues for all remaing files. Thoughts? GOAL 1) generating raster extents of ECW into .shp, <-- fails here before completing 2) capturing the centroid XY of the shp and attrib to X and Y items, 3) evnetually renaming ECW based on concatentation of X_Y coords. Pointcloud problem

Hi all, I have a citygml file. I read it in FME and what I need to do is to create point on the wall surface, then draw the line between selected points of the buildings and finally, intersect those lines with buildings in between to calculate the visibility for each building. But I have a crucial problem. I create the point using "pointcloudcombiner" transformer and what I have as the results are the points that are not located on the wall so for intersecting process I have intersection for all lines which are not true in reality. Is there anyone who knows what is the problem of poincloudcombiner tranformer which creates points with a tiny distance to the wall surface?! That would be super great if I there is a solution for it. I appreciate you help in advance. Best regards, Many

How can I - merge several kml in a single one keeping file structure in Google earth? - handle heavy kml in GoogleEarth?

Hi, My reader is a shapefile which is transformed to ten kml files. Each writer is composed by 2 files, one folder (included all hierarchical organisation folder: event type,country,year, month, event) and one placemark (included coordinate, styler...). So I would like to merge all these kml files (so 10 times : one folder and one placemark) in a single one in keeping the structure I have (event type,country,year, month, event). Then I would like to handle it in GoogleEarth but it would be too heavy. Is there a way to resolve this issue? Thanks in advance for your help. Regards Arnaud

Specifying seed file per output file when writing DGN with fanout

Hi, I have a project which transforms one or more DGN v8 files from one coordinate system to another. The input files are specified by a user parameter and each input file results in one output file through the use of fanout where the input file name is used as the fanout attribute. I use the value of the user parameter that specifies the input files to set the value of the V8 Seed File parameter. (I want the same header information after the transformation as before the transformation.) However, I have not found a way where I can choose a different seed file per output file or change the seed file during the processing of the input files. Instead, the same input file is used as the seed file for all output files. Does anyone know of a way to accomplish this?

Problem with AutoCAD_OD and Template File

Hello, I am trying to run a workbench with both the reader and the writer in the AUTOCAD_OD file format. The problem is that when I set the Template File and run the workspace I get the following message: Database conflict detected using the template file. See the documentation to avoid conflicts. Skipping the use of the template file. So doing a little research I found this link: http://docs.safe.com/fme/2009/html/ReadersWriters/autocad_od_-_templatefile.htm Where it says that: Note: The template file will be skipped for AUTOCAD_OD in certain cases to avoid name conflicts. If the reader format is AUTOCAD_OD, and the AUTOCAD_OD writer is the first writer in a multiple writer translation, the template file will be skipped. The problem is I need to use an AUTOCAD_OD for the reader and the writer, so changing the file format is not an option. Does anyone know any way to get around this problem? Thanks, Gabriel

Plotting xy in series

I am trying to figure out a way to plot a series of points based off xy values in a table. The initial xy values is a lat long and the each of the other points is a set of xy offsets. So, I may have record 1 with.. -107.55 36.55 and the offset is .01 .01. So, the new xy for 1 would be +.01. Then I need it to goto the next record and use the new offset xy. Keeping in mind that the 2nd record has no spatial and needs to adopt the new xy from the last record. In the end the table will create a line based off the 1st starting point. Any thoughts on this? I've tried using the offsetter but without the previous coordinate attached to the offset it doesnt work. Any thoughts?

Impossible to connect to FME Stroe for custom transformer

Hi, I can't connect to FME Store through FME Desktop when adding custom transformer. I am behind a proxy but the option "use system proxy settings" is checked. I receive this error messagee: Current connection to FME Server does not support HTTP 1.1 messaging. I would like to try SmartCleaner_2013, is there an other way to get this transformer? Thank you

No Header Values when Reading in Excel Doc

I am trying to read in an excel document and the frist row contains my column names. After reading in the document all I see in FME is Column 1, Column 2 and so on. I am not sure what I am doing wrong, other than when I use the Microsoft Excel ADO (deprecated) format the headers appear in FME, and when I use the newer excel format the headers do not appear in FME. I would appreciate any healp with this.

How can I make FME more efficient in spatial joins?

I work with world datasets in shapefile. Spatial joins are taking a long time and lots of resources. I won't know from one data set to the other which countries will be present but I do know that I will have a match for both components of the join. i.e. that if I have South Korea lines I will have a South Korea Poly for the spatial join. At the same time I am lazy and I don't want to have a template that has all the possible countries as seperate input and output. For example I know I could do the following for each country: Reader: KOR (lines)-->spatial relation (KOR (Area))-->Writer Output: KOR (lines) with area info. There are many more transformers in the middle so I would have to duplicate a lot more than the simplified version above. At the moment I use multiple datasets in the reader the following: Reader Asia (country datasets(lines)) -->spatial relation (Asia (country datasets Area))-->Writer Output: Fanout by Country (lines) with area info. using the JMS Receiver transformer with the Sorter transformer

I am having an issue using the sorting transformer with the JMSReceiver transformer. What i have going on is i get that i get information from a JMS Queue in XML i am then fragmenting the xml into a list attributes, then exploding each list into features with its asscoiated attributes from its list. Then i convert the date attribute into seconds and use a sorter to sort the features descending by seconds. But the problem is that I have features going into the sorter, but nothing coming out of it....this does work when reading in a file using a reader, but does not work properly with the JMSReceiver message streaming transformer. What i think is going on, is that the sorter is waiting for all of the features to get there, but with the JMSReceiver it is constantly polling for new messages so i dont think "all" of the features ever get to the sorter even though a message has been received.

How to set background Colour of Custom Autocad Hatch Pattern

Hi I have a custom Autocad hatch pattern displaying trees and I wish to set the background colour to green. All the colour settings seem to colour the actual lines that make up the trees themselves and not the background. Can anybody point me in the right direction? Thanks, Mike

how to select 10% heighest points of a point cloud (for each plot)

Hy, Is it possible to select 10% of highest points of a point cloud? It's a bit more complicataed: Each point belongs to a plot. And I want to keep only 10% of points to each plot. Only if there is more that 10 points in a plot. For each point I have: ID_plot, ID_point, x, y, z Is it possible ? If yes how? Thanks

is FME can be used to change name of file and folder and cut files in another? If you prefer I don't want that FME read, i want to use it basically because i have 100 folders to tidy.

Convert demensions from CAD to GDB

I don't kown how to convert the dimension geometry entity,and I need a model of FME to solve the problem. Another, I also need convert the GDB feature like dimensions to CAD formate. thank you.

Anyone else seeing differences in PointConnector between FME 2012 and FME 2013?

I have a workbench that works perfect in FME 2012 SP4 but when I run the same one in FME 2013 SP1 (and 2014 beta), the number of features that are created are different. I have narrowed it down to the PointConnector and the way it is handling lists. I set the connection break to the parent_id field (which is the same for all of them) and set the list name to origSeq. Now in 2012, the point are connected and the original attributes that were present on the points are stored in the list as origSeq{0}. I then add a ListIndexer and set to 0 then remove the list and now the lines have the original attributes from the points. In 2013, the last point to get processed has its original attribute shifted to the index of 1. Anyone else seeing wierd behavior with the point connector? I wanted to send this to the community before I send to Safe support. Thanks, Sean

Find intersecting lines that have different attribute values

I know there's a "group by" for the Line on Line Overlayer and the Spatial Filter, but what I really want is a "not grouped by". That is, how do I only find intersects of lines that have different values for the attribute I'm interested in? The particular case I'm looking at is a bunch of lines that have an attribute that identifies them as part of a network. I only want to find where two networks intersect, not where all the lines intersect lines of the same network. Lists seem really memory-consuming when there are lots of features, so I'm wondering if there's a more obvious solution.
