multiple geometry

i am pulling an oracle table with multiple geometry out through the feature Reader. i know there is a 'Handle multiple spatial columns' when using an oracle reader. how can i read multiple geometry when using a feature reader?

Does anyone have an easy set of instructions I can follow for mosaicking

Hi I've given this a try on 5 occasions. No luck so far. Most of the time the files want to take over an hour to load into FME. If anyone has an easy set of instructions I can follow, it would be greatly appreciated. :)

How can FME merge several kml in a single one keeping tree file structure in Google earth?

Hi, My reader is a shapefile which is transformed to ten kml files. Each folder Output is composed by 2 files, one file (included all hierarchical organisation folder: event type,country,year, month, event) and one placemark (included coordinate, styler...). So I would like to merge all these kml files in a single one in keeping the structure I have (event type,country,year, month, event). Is there a tool to do that? Thanks in advance for your help. SherbendGeneralizer performance issues

At the moment I am trying to use SherbendGeneralizer to generalize our data set in UK and I have some big performance issues. So I need an expert advice. Here is my workflow. Intersect Line(rivers, approx. 2MB shape file ) and Polygon (Postal code plus Administrative boundaries approx. 55 MB shape file) Perform the SherbendGeneralizer Export generalized layers When I chose a small area then it works fine but when I chose complete country it runs and runs without any output. Even after three days there is not output. I am using FME (Professional Edition) 2013 (Build 13264, WIN32) and FME (Professional Edition) 2013 (Build 13264, WIN64) on Windows 7.

Cad Layer Description

Hi, i would like to ask if there is way to put/add layer description.? i've just seen that in LAYER OPTIONS - Store Layer Properties on Features It include autocad_layer_linetype, autocad_layer_color, and autocad_layer_lineweight. but there is no layer_description.... help please.

using LOG_FILENAME in StringConcatenator

Hello Is there any trick to somehow use the LOG_FILENAME value in a Concatenator ? Background: I call "fme.exe" from commandline (BAT file) with: fme.exe .... -LOG_FILENAME "...." So LOG_FILENAME is NOT a parameter (like those --paramname arguments). I cannot find it under Systemparameters either... Thanks for any hints Michael

SDE Feature Dataset as a reader Parameter

Hi All, I have a workbench which calls several Feature Classes from a Feature Dataset on an SDE. Each month as property is processed, a new Feature Dataset is created on the SDE containing Feature Classes of the same names. I have tried to set a parameter which prompts the user for the Feature Dataset location each time the workbench is run (Parameter) but all to no avail. The closest I can seem to get is to point it to the SDE. Has anyone encountered this problem before? Know of a way around? I have mainly been trying with a "Directory (Existing)" parameter, however in desperation have even tried a "Text" parameter! Any assistance would be appreciated.

ORACLE Reader: Failed to parse MapInfo Symbology string.

I try to convert an Oracle Spatial table to MapInfo .TAB. There is an MI_STYLE column. The spatial table looks all right in a MapInfo linked table. In the workbench I ticked ' Apply MapInfo Symbology' and set the Style Column to MI_STYLE and Index Column to MI_PRINX (as they are in the database) n the Oracle Spatial Object Parameters panel. However I get this eror message for all the objects and the style of all the objects in the output MapInfo table are the same (default): ORACLE Reader: Failed to parse MapInfo Symbology string. String was `Pen( 2, 2, 32768 ) ' All the objects are lines and polylines. Does anyone have an idea why FME cannot parse the symbols?

RecordBuilder / CSV import

Hello everyone, I have lots of csv files that I need to import. Nonetheless, they are arranged in columns and not in lines, i.e. for one csv I have the following : col0(attribute name), col1(attribute value) X, 1, Y, 2, Z, 3, In this case, I thus have 3 features with 2 attributes col0 and col1. I want only one feature with 3 attributes X, Y and Z. I aggregate and create a list, so I have only 1 feature and then tried two techniques : - RecordBuilder - AttributeCreator, by specifying for each attribute X, Y, Z the name as @Value(_list{i}.col0) and the value as _list{i}.col1 Displaying the result in the FME Viewer shows the calculation succeeded. However, the attributes are not created in the workbench so I cannot use them for further process... I tried AttributeExposer but without success. thanks in advance for your help. Djekko.

Expression Evaluator with TWO csv files

I have a workspace with two csv readers. I am trying to subtract an amount from a field in each reader. It will not work correctly with two readers. I tried the same expression with one csv reader subtracting from two fields and it works fine. I need it to be two csv files so I can make them public parameters to do some calculations then merge back into one csv file. Thanks, Chad

Dissolver excludes polygon islands

Trying to dissolve a shape containing several squares with unique ID's. The squares are "grouped" in the way that 4 of the 6 squares are adjacent to each other, the other 2 are not adjacent and therefore "islands" separated from the 4 main squares. When dissolved, the 4 main squares are output as they should; as one solid polygon with one attribut representing that area. Though, the other two islands, are not dissolved into this area, but are dissolved as separate polygons and with separate attributes. When the same shape file is dissolved in ArcGIS, the output is the same as in FME, with the difference that there are only 1 attribute representing all the polygons. My question is; how do I get FME dissolver to output the same result as ArcGIS dissolve? Working in Workbench 2012 SP3.

Hi all, new to FME and would like to know: I have an excel sheet with a column of (Attribute id's) and a column of (lengths m). I also have a tab file that relates to the excel sheet and has the same Attribute id's. Can I change the spatial length of the polylines in the tab file to be the same as the lengths in the excel sheet??

distinct values

Guys, I'm lokking for a way to select all distinct values of all the attributes in a table. For exemple : City / Color ------------------- New-York / red New-York / blue Berlin / yellow Chisinau / red Chisiau / blue and the answer would be "New-York Belin Chisinau" and "red blue yellow"... That could be writen in an excel file or txt... It's more or less the same action than an advanced filter in excel... Does anyone know how to do that ? thank's in advance

Coordinate Accuracy?

I have a translation that converts from Garmin GDB which has Lat and Lon in WGS84 and converts it to UTM83-15F. I noticed, however, that when I compare the position of my waypoints in my GIS software to those in Google Earth (Garmin Mapsource s/w has the ability to view the waypoints in Google Earth), they were off anywhere between 20 and 45 feet!. The waypoints in Google Earth matched the data from the Garmin GPS unit to 5 digits, but the FME translation did not. For my purposes this is too much error. I then tested my GIS software which has an import system for AutoCAD DXF and Garmin Mapsource also has a way to save the GDB file into and AutoCAD DXF. This is a round about and manual way to get the waypoints into my GIS software, but they are much more accurate, between 2.5 and 5 feet. Can anyone guess as to why the large error is ocurring in FME? I do use a reprojector to get the waypoints to UTM83-15F and I suspect that is where the error is ocurring. Anyway to improve the a

Dynamic Writer - no output when run from FME Server 2013 sp2 3499

Hi I have an issue with using the Dynamic writer in FME Server 2013. It produces the zip file but its empty and the location is has written to on disc is also empty. When running the workbench it works but not when uploaded to server 2013. I had no issue with the dynamic writer on 2012, is there a setting that i have missed out? Even the standard ''easytranslator'' does not produce and files so something to do wth the writer rather then the individual workbench Regards

I tried wit the "string searcher" but I'm not sure what i have to put to get the position of the "*" Then use the substringextractor to make both atributtes. Please Could anyone give me a clue? Run oracle procedure via python shutdown script

Hallo all, I need to make sure that my procedures (enabling triggers and constrints) are run at the end of my translation. Since I have no idea if any of my writers will be triggerd I cannot use the end sql. After googling I came across the following module (cx_Oracle), but I dont know how to use it with procedures, or if it is at all possible. Any assistance would be helpful. Itay

Custom transformer - is it feature-based or group-based?

Hello, I am in doubt whether the custom transformer I created processes just one feature at a time. It does not have any "group-by" clause active, but still seems to accumulate all the features first and then process them, instead of processing one by one. Is there a way how to check this behavior? Or better, is there a way how to forcingly make it feature-based instead of group-based? Thank you in anticipation, Jaroslav

problem with excel output

FME Stroking Arcs into ESRI File Geodatabase

I'm using FME 2013 SP2 to translate GeoMedia parcel polygons into an ESRI File Geodatabase. Many of my parcel polygons contain arc segments (curves) in their geometry. When I write these polygons into my File Geodatabase, they are being stroked into numerous short line segments. I don't have any ArcStroker transformers in my workspace, and the "Stroking Tolerance" setting in the Advanced Workspace Parameters is set to 0. I'm using the GEODATABASE_FILE writer (ESRI Geodatabase, File Geodatabase ArcObjects) to write to my File Geodatabase. I would switch to the FILEGDB writer (ESRI Geodatabase, File Geodatabase API) but then I can't specify an XML template file for building the geodatabase. Is there some other setting I need to modify to get FME to stop stroking the arcs?

Workspace Fails - Data in Mapped Drive uses Spaces in Folder Name

A workspace which reads data from or writes data to a mapped network drive does not run on FME Server. The service works just fine in FME Workbench, but fails on FME Server. Have already tried: - HTML encoding the path - Python escaping the space (replacing each space with "\\t") Cannot rename the directory due to several other software programs referencing the same path; nor can I copy the files elsewhere, we are talking several gigabytes of data that changes all the time. Any tips are appreciated!

Problems with the new clipper

I have previously been using the Clipper transformer a lot and was found of the 4 output groups: Inside, Outside, Inside clipper and outside clipper. They have now been replaced by Inside and Outside, and an option to select what to do about the "Clippees on Clipper Boundary". The "Clippees on Clipper Boundary" has three options: Treat as Inside, Treat as Outside and Treat as Inside and Outside. If I want the clippees on the boundary inside the clipper in one group (as in the old clipper) and the clippees on the boundary outside the clipper in one group, how do I do that? Currently the clippees on the boundary inside goes with the insides and the clippees on the boundary outside goes with the outside. If I change the "Clippees on Clipper Boundary" option, nothing changes. Am I dealing with both reduced functionality and a bug here? Regards, Casper
