Rotation of text affects the length value which inturn affects the snapping point wrt allignment

When a text is rotated in the source format, we are applying the same rotation on the fme feature while writing it to a dgn file using FME writer. In the output dgn file, if we snap that text element and if the allignment is set to right top, the snap point appears at the center top position(approximately) which indicates that the string length is is decreasing with the rotation value and the same scenario works fine when the rotation is 0 i.e, the snap point appears at the right top position as desired when the text is not rotated. When we inspected the text element in FME inspector, we saw that there was an attribute called "igds_string_len". We tried using this attribute by setting it to [individual character width*string length] which has solved the problem for single line text, but whereas for multiline text, we are unable to set this attribute for individual text elements which are present as attribute list. Template Variables are always _underfined_

Hi Everyone, I have looked through all of the community information and knowledge base for some help on this but can't find anything to help with the issue. I am trying to use templating in email notifications and I can't get the client specific keywords to be anything but _undefined_. I would like to include the directory of the transformation results in an email to certain users when a job fails. That way they can see in the log where the issue is. Thanks in advance :)

scheduler -notification

Hi, my workbenches are working in a row. The first workbench starts the second and so on. I have uploaded the workbenches to the notification service and I filled the job success topic. If I start the first workbench from the repository ( jobsubmitterservice).All workbenches are starting. But the workbenches have to run in night time. So I want to use the scheduler. But... If i start the first workbench the second didn't start. Barbara

Copy two geometries from Oracle to Oracle

I have an Oracle table with two geometry fields, POLYGON_GEOMETRY and CENTROID_GEOMETRY. I want to copy the table to a new Oracle Spatial database but I have to specify one or the other geometry column names in the reader. How can I copy both geometry fields to the new table? Thanks

TestFilter not matching DONE rule

I have a test filter after the WebMapTIler (which puts aattributes _num_tiles) and I am also counting the number of tiles produced with a COUNTER transform with the results called _count. Directly after this I have a TestFillter setup as follows IF @Value(_count) >= @Value(_num_tiles) DONE Else If @Evaluate((@Value(_count))%10) = 0 SEND Else IGNORE well, what happens is that I get an item on the SEND port every ten features, But I never get the DONE item. What gives?

labels to lines

Hi, I want to change labels (which are under different angles) to lines. The line should be the bottom line and its length should correspond to the length of the label. I tried to use TextStroker and then BoundingBoxReplacer (with option: Oriented Bounding Box), but it not give the desired results. Does anyone have any idea? Regards

Add cross-hatching on a TIF output

Is there a simple way to add cross hatching to an output TIF file? Looking to see where it can be styled in advance of the Writer Output... something similar to a MapInfo Styler, etc, would be good but can't seem to find an equivalent. Thanks!

Arcgis Server Execute Workbench

How would I execute a workbench from a Silverlight Viewer on the ArcGIS Server side? I want to have a button that pops up a form with a few user parameters. Then those parameters are passed to FME desktop or Server. (Either one). Then the server executes the process with the parameters. If someone could explain how to do that it would be awesome! Thank you so much!

Creating SDE feature class from SQL view-generated geometry

All, I've got a sql view that joins SQL 2 tables together, one of which contains geometry for address points. I want to take that view and write it to an SDE feature class using FME. The problem is, when I choose SQL Server Spatial as the reader format, the shape (geometry) column isn't recognized. When I chose SQL Server Non-Spatial, the shape column is recognized, but the output SDE feature class doesn't have a recognized spatial reference, and the points don't display at all on the map (ArcMap). Is there any advice for trying to accomplish this? Using SQL for geometry joins, spatial functions, etc. is what we're planning on doing for generating data for SDE feature classes... Add country attribute by searching for words

Hello, I am fairly new to using FME but I wanted to solve a problem using this software. I have a spreadsheet with all kinds of different newsarticles wich I would like to spatially assign (automatically) to a specific country. In the newsarticles, a country name is often mentioned. I was thinking if there was a way to use some kinf of search transformer which could search for country names (in the articles) and also add a new attribute value (the country name it was assigned to). I have two readers, the spreadsheet and a shp file of all the countries. It would prove usefull to read all the different search options (all the countries) from the shp file. Any suggestions? thx in advance

Converting CSV Char. schema to Date

I have a csv files that I am creating a point shapefile. Currenty, I am only able to create string fields for the shapefile, but I want some of the fields to be dates. How do I convert the csv schema within a workbench to export data fields? Thank you

Log File Creation

Hi I am having trouble creating a log file after each fme process. I have a simple windows bat file that loops through a folder of gml.gz files and no log file is being created. It is definitely set in the project file to create log files. Everthing translates successfully - just no log file. SCRIPT: :: Run the FME Project for %%f in (%1\\*.gz ) do ( fme %project% --SourceDataset "%%f" --DestDataset "%1\\%%~nf.dwg" --LOG_FILE "C:\\log\\%%~nf.log" ) I am taking the example from here: http://fmepedia.safe.com/articles/How_To/Batch-Processing-Method-1-Command-Line-or-Batch-File Any ideas? raster cell value as a function of location

Does anyone know of a way to calculate cell values based on their location or distance from the origin? I've been trying to use the Raster Expression Evaluator but can't find a transformer that will expose the cell's x,y values as attributes. Or am I on the wrong track? Takashi kindly suggested the raster cell coercer but I wonder if I can't avoid the conversion to vector and then back to raster. Thanks. MvW

Extract X,Y from midpoint of line

I'm not sure how to extract the X,Y attribute from the CenterPointReplacer? I have my line feature feeding into the CenterPointReplacer transformer, this creates my Midpoint "Point" perfectly, but when i add this Point into my workspace (GeoMedia) the X,Y attribute are not to be seen? Thoughts

Okay..I'm finally getting some time to work on this. I can do this using python and using the *.py as a startup script in the workbench but I was wondering if I can do this using only transformers. 1) Directory full of excel files...with filename separated by an unscore ie A_B_C.xls 2) Load the file listing into a table as such Column 1: A_B_C.xls Column 2: A Column 3: B Column 4 C

Welsh characters

I'm having some difficulties with Welsh characters and MapInfo Professional and I was hoping that someone would be able to assist. I'm just trying to take the source MasterMap GML files from Ordnance Survey and save out the CartographicText feature type to a MapInfo TAB file. The conversion goes fine but the Welsh characters are displaying incorrectly (see image below); I've tried looking at the character encoding parameter for the MFAL Writer but am not sure which (if any) of these will help. Has anybody come across something similar?

Reading CSV Files

I have a set of CSV files and for each of them I would just like to read in the first line of the file. Is there an easy way to do that? I know I could read them in and use a counter and a tester to throw away all but the first line - but that would still mean that the whole of the file was read first - these are large files so I would prefer not to do that. cheers IanM

Published Parameters for Joiners

Hi everyone, I have concatenated joiners on my workbench and I am trying to create new user published parameters because the paths are being changed depending on the date of update. The problem is: The published parameter of the first joiner is created successfully, I move to the second joiner and create the second published parameter. When I click 'OK' the newly published parameter overwrites the first one. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance Gianluca

problem with streaming KML to ArcGis map

Hi all. I'm trying to run example from FME Server Playground (http://fmeserver.com/userweb/sharper/playground/index.html) called "Stream KML to ArcGis map" on my own FME Server(trial). I've download REST-kmlstreaming.fmw and Transit.sdf. I also publis REST-kmlstreaming.fmw to my server. When i'm trying to run example with my URL (http://<my server>:<port>/fmedatastreaming/test/REST-kmlstreaming.fmw) i recieve this error: dojo.io.script.jsonp_dojoIoScript2._jsonpCallback({"error":{"code":400,"message":"File not found. Wrong url or out of memory.","details":[]}}); But if i run Data Streaming Service from server i recieve correct kml file. FME Server 2013 SP3 Any suggestions what i'm doing wrong?

tabel based measures to ploylines,splines, arcs

No realy a question, just a post. Someone asked this, but cant find the post. Question was how to put nodes on (arbitrary distances along a polyline). I think it was for a eventroute. DH Meterage 1 15 2 10 3 5 1 20 1 34 2 9 2 25 2 16 3 12 3 22 DH was the id of the polylines. I solved this in following manner. 1. build a list on the tabel, group by DH. 2. merge polylines with the table with the list, merge on DH. 4. explode the list. This will result in 10 features (number of meterage's) in this case. 5. sorter on DH 6. snipper with start = end = meterage. ..u might want to add a test to assure the snipper wont go out of bounds. (FME 2012)

Lists comparison

Hi All, I look for lists comparaison. For example : i have 2 lists list1 that contains (1,2,3 values) and list2 that contains (2,3,4,5). The result is 2 lists ListOut1 and ListOut2 that contain the differences : ListOut1 will contains all list2 values that don't exist in list1 => ListOut1 values : 4,5 ListOut2 will contains all list1 values that don't exist in list2=> ListOut2 values : 1. I dont find tranfermer that can helps me. I look for python script but i need help. Thanks an advance. FarFar

Neigborfinder To All Points

I am trying to calculate angle and distance to a point feature class that share a common attribute. Naturally, the neighborfinder transformer comes to mind. However, it only generates it to the closest candidate. I need to find the distance and direction to all points that have a common attribute I specify. Is there a way to do this? Second question, is there a way to generate a line from a single point in question to points that also share a common attribute. Essentially, there would be a central point with individual lines radiating out to points that are within a certain distance as specified by the attribute that has already been processed in. Sounds a little confusing but if anyone can help I would be happy to clarify further. Thanks Matthew Brucker
