FME vs ESRI Productivity Suite

Is it possible to load MasterMap COU data using FME into ArcSDE?  Has anyone created a model for this? I seem to have a lot of probems with Productivity Suite these days!   Any links to existing FME workspaces used by others?  Regards  Kam

OS MasterMap MapInfo styling

Hi,  As someone completely new to the world of FME, can anybody help with advice on the best way to style OS MasterMap in MapInfo professional .tab and AutoCAD .dwg?  I can create the raw output tables OK, but getting it to look nice is another matter! Also, I notice from other questions the issue of object order seems important in MI tab - is this something that needs to be added?  Any advice or sample workspaces to get me started gratefully received!

Atomise records

Hi,  I have a set of records (no attached geometry) which contain a lower and higher value in addition to several other attributes (see example 1), I want to atomise and split each individual record so that a new incremental record (+1) is created based on the lower and higher range value.  When each new record has been created, I need to move on to the next individual record and repeat (see example 2).    Example 1 Input Attr1,Attr2,Lower,Higher AA,1100,10,13 AA,1200,201,205 BC,2000,31,32  Example 2 Output AA,1100,10 AA,1100,11 AA,1100,12 AA,1100,13 AA,1200,201 AA,1200,202 AA,1200,203 AA,1200,204 AA,1200,205 BC,2000,31 BC,2000,32    Please note that the data does not currently exist as a list which can be exploded.  Can anyone suggest a method to do this?  Thanks,  Rob

Decimal equivalant to INT

Hi, within a workbench I need to split a decimal value into its whole and decimal elements using the arithmetic editor, Extracting the whole number is easy using INT(value), however is there a formula available which will complete the same procedure with eh decimal? I have used a workaround in the form of (value)-INT(value) which works fine, but I am interested to know if there is an out of the box formula which will do this? Regards, Rob

How to read SDE layer in python startup script?

I am having problems reading an SDE feature class in python using the 'SDE30' reader type. Has anyone had success with this reader?  I have tried inputing the parameters several ways and it appears to connect to the database, however it does not actually read any records.  At the end of the python section of the workbench logfile it says 0 records read...but no error.  For testing I have planted some errors so if the script was reading the individual records it woudl raise specific exceptions.  In order to figure out the parameter syntax I'm going off another post from one of my coworkers Logan at... http://fmepedia.safe.com/AnswersQuestionDetail?id=906a0000000cldqAAA  Mine is a little different since he used the geodatabase SDE reader and I'm using the basic one named 'SDE30'  .  I'm feeding in the connection parameters from published parameters in my workspace.  He used an .sde connection file.  Below is my code.  Basically I want to check the input featur

Query for multiple True/False features

I am trying to obtain results from a BuildingFootpring feature that has multiple columns (named by Categorie) which are giving a 1 or 0 depending of if they meet the criteria.  All 20 of my columns have either a value of 1 or 0 depending on if they are... Example: a School would have the following values (I only listed 3 out of the 20 possiblilties) Category_Hotel = 0 Category_Motel = 0 Category_School = 1 . . . I currently used a StringConcatenator to combine all the columns and used a Tester to search for a String that contains a 1.  For some reason it is dropping some of the features?  I would like to use this SQL statement in a transformer, i'm just not sure which one will allow?  Category_Attraction  = 1 OR  Category_City_Facility  = 1 OR  Category_Fire  = 1 OR  Category_Hospital  = 1 ....etc.

Removing Duplicate Vertices from Complex Lines

I am processing complex linear features from a V7 DGN file.  Many of these complex linear geometries have several elements (segments) that contain multiple vertices with the same coordinates.  Sometimes there is only one segment in the geometry, which essentially makes the geometry a point, but there are some geometries with the multiple segments where the segment with only one distinct coordinate should just be removed and the geometry would be valid.  What I've tried so far is to use two GeometryValidator transformers.  The first one is set to remove Duplicate Consecutive Points and repair the geometry.  The second is set to check for "Contains Null Geometry Parts" and "Degenerate or Corrupt Geometries" and to NOT repair the geometry.  The problem with this approach is that while is captures those linear features that resolve to just one distinct coordinate as FAILED, it also flags those features that would be valid if the segment with the single distinct coor

CSV to Point Cloud

Hi,  I am trying to convert a CSV file (no header, just X Y and Z columns) into either a LAS or POD file format.  However I keep getting the error:  "Failed to obtain point cloud from feature.  Only features with point cloud geometry are expected"  Is there a step that I'm missing here?  Thanks,

3DAffiner example please

I am trying to build some 3D planes from XYZ centre points.  I have generated the planes using sector generator coerced these as polygons then 3d Forced them @ZValue  rotated them CLOCKWISE them using ) and I am stuck trying to get the resultant planes to rotate/tilt on their Z axis about their @ZValue centre using an @Value(Dip)  can someone please provide a screenshot of a 3DAffiner example of a Z-axis affine of say 10 degrees   AND  a 3DRotator example of a custom axis example OR z-axis example to apply a 10 degrees to each plane element? the help file for these two transformers are for irony and i am unable to debug why nothing is tilting.  Kind Regards, Steve

XML to PDF

Hey!  I am trying to convert XML informations (30K non geospatial elements) into formated PDF for each of my elements (30K).  What would be the best way to do that?     - I am able to create a table for all my elements, but I don't see the way to create a formated PDF each elements.  - I checked out about the XSLTProcessor, but It doesn't seems to be useful to create a formated PDF. Am I wrong?  Anyway if you have better ideas I'm wide open!  Thanks

How to duplicate the geometry for duplicated matches in FeatureMerger?

I Have a sde feature class and an excel spreadsheet. I want to  create a new feature class using the sde feature class and some of the attribues in the spreadsheet. The spreadsheet has many-to-one relationship to the sde feature class and I want to duplicate the geometry for all matched duplicates. Look like I can't do it in the FeatureMerger with the sde as the requestor and the spreadsheet as the supplier. Any advice how to do this? I can achieve this with loading the spreadsheet into an Oracle table and create a sde view, but that is not what I prefer.

How to expand a hiperlinked text in Excel?

I have a hiperlinked text in an Excel spreadsheet, and I want to load this spreadsheet into an Oracle table but the hiperlinks saved in the table, not the text in the Excel cell. Can I do this in FME? I am using FME 2013.

Spatial relator

Helo I am simply  tring to run a test to determine if poitns are within Parcels and it seems to working well but there are Lat Long field that are not being populated. Is there a way to populate these fields? Thanks  Pat

AreaCalculator output units

Does anybody know how to get a different unit of measurement for the AreaCalculator? The default output is in Ground Map Units.  I would like the output in Square Meters.    Under the default parameters of the AreaCalculator transformer, their is a value of 3 given to the Multiplier? is their a specific value that will give Square Meters as the output?

Naming an output file based on parts of the Readers/Tabs folder name and file name

Is it possible to automatically name the output writer based on parts of the folder name the reader/TAB came from AND the name of the reader itself?  For example, This is the folder where the reader/TAB came from: "KNKA208 CMA 028A Indianapolis"  And the readers/TAB name is "Authorized CGSA"  and I want the output to be named: "A-KNKA208-028-Indianapolis-Authorized CGSA"   Thanks! Joseph

3d building extrusion

Hey Everyone!  I'm working on making a 3d effect for a group of buildings. I have an ESRI shapefile of the building footprints with each building's height as an attribute. I used the Extruder transformer to extrude the building heights up from the footprint and the 3DAffiner transformer to offset them slightly for a 3d look/feel.  Now I have the original footprint and raised building walls, but no roofs. Since all of the building walls were extruded to different heights, I'm wondering how to transform or affine the building footprints so each one will be placed correctly on top of it's respective set of walls.  Thanks for any ideas and help!

how get handle on exposed attribute in smallworld side

Hi, I am using fme 2010 workbench and smallworld 4.3. I am trying to import a .dwg file data into smallworld using FME work bench. For doing this i am setting current world value(based on "sr number" it is a field in our customized object "Service Regulator") manually then i am importing. the .dwg file name is a "sr number" say ex:003521. Based on this id i am setting current world value manually . To get this value to smallworld side i am exposing "fme_basename" both in reader and writer.  "fme_basename" contains 003521. If i can get the handle on fme_basename while processing the feature in fme traslator i can set the current world directly. So, please sugget me how to get the value of fme_basename in the smallworld side.

Hi, In a mapping file while importing data to smallworld we have exposed format attribute "fme_basefilename". Using this name only we have to set the current world. Know please let me know how to get handle on this exposed format attribute so that i can set the current world.

WebMapTiler transformer numbering

Hi FME's heroes,  I've got a question about the webmaptiler transformer. I'm trying to generate tiles for a Google Maps API map but the numbering in output does not match to what I expect. I read the doc and tested the different attributes fanout, the different schemes, but I'm still stuck...  I expect that (generated with QGIS) :   But I get only     Any idea how to do ?  Thank you from France for your help

FME ERROR: TIFF writer: The resulting file is too big

Hi,  I am trying to combine 2077 Raster images into one big one. I chose TIFF as the output file format which threw this error.   (SYSTEM: Desktop FME 2013 on Win7 4gb Ram)  "TIFF writer: The resulting file is too big (approximately 207.87 GB).  This format cannot support a file size over 4.00 GB.  Consider tiling the raster to reduce the output file size"  Nice error message, but what is my alternative? Should I use the BigTIFF format?  Thanks,  Rob

Problem with SQL server connection in translation

I have a translation that is taking a shp file and inputting it to SQL Server.  I can create the writer, but during the translation I get an error saying that MS SQL Server (Spatial) Writer: Connection Failed.  Connection string 'Provider=SQLOLEDB;Data Source=srv-onscene-tes Provider error '(-2147467259) [DBNETLIB] [ConnectionOpen (Connect(().] SQL server does not exist or access denied.  Any suggestions would be helpful.  Thank you, Joan

How to specify multiple xfMap files to an XML reader

Hi,   I'm trying to read an XML document using multiple xfMap files. First, I defined all schemas in single xfMap file. When specify the file path as the XML reader parameter, there are no problem.
