It walks through converting a Shapefile to CSV rather than KMZ, but the concepts should be similar for both formats.

If that doesn't help, could you please share a copy of the workspace you've built so far for converting KMZ to CSV? We could take a look and perhaps point you in the right direction for getting this working.
