Question

Dynamic schema writer truncating feature class names

Hi,

I'm using an ESRI Filegeodatabase writer with a dynamic feature type to copy feature classes from one file geodatabase to another (with some processing on the way).

I'm finding that some of the longer feature class names are being truncated when they are written to the new geodatabase. Everything else is working fine, the geodataset names are ok.

I've tried specifying an attribute with the feature class name too, but it still truncates the name.

Any ideas on how to resolve this?

Thanks!

Hi,

Any chance that the names are longer than the permitted FC name lenght?

Hi Itay,

I'm not hitting the permitted name length (160 characters), its truncating the feature class names at 52 characters. And the names are copied from an existing geodatabase which is ok with the length.

I haven't been able to get my hands on the elusive FME licence today to test if it also happens when writing to a static schema, but I don't remember it ever happening before.

HI,

Sounds very strange especially since the names are originating from a geodb.

I would run this by Safe, just to be sure.
