Converting MS Excel to Google Maps KML

Hi,

I'm new to FME. I have an Excel spreadsheet with X/Y co-ordinates that I want to convert to KML for use in Google Maps. I've managed to do the conversion OK and create the KML but Google Maps won't read it. Google Earth will read the KML OK but I need to display it in Google Maps.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi,

try to paste your KML into this web application:

http://display-kml.appspot.com/

Does that work? If not, tell us what happens and any error messages.

Also, take a look at this article from Google.

Hi,

How about writing with the google fusion table writer, to display in google maps? from there you can also export the features as KML.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

The KML displays fine when copied in to http://display-kml.appspot.com/ but when I try to load it into Google Maps it fails.

I wonder if something has changed recently within the Import feature on Google maps.

I've just tried to import a file created with fme that I know has worked previously and get an error message.
