Move spatial data (both topology and attributes) from Smallworld to Azure postgre.postgis

I am really new to FME. I need to move spatial data (both topology and attributes) from Smallworld to Azure postgre.postgis. Additionally, I also need to take care of the "delta" data moves (incremental updates). Pls let me know your inputs.

1. Is an intermediate XML unavoidable?

2. Is it a plain lift & shift or should I be concerned with Data Modelling?

First choice to make is:

Using the FME Smallworld Edition or

Using the Spatial Biz plugin for Smallworld and the FME Database edition.

Information about the Spatialbiz plugin can be found here:

https://www.spatialbiz.com/solutions/extensions-plug-ins/spatialbiz-plug-in/

The plugin allows for initial and synchronization reads from Smallworld.
