Hi FME Community,
We wanted to share some recent updates from our community platform provider, Gainsight, along with the steps we're taking to enhance spam prevention and keep the FME Community safe and engaging for everyone!
Spam Prevention
To strengthen our spam prevention, we’ve added an extra layer of moderator approval. If you signup for a community account using a disposable email service like Gmail or Outlook, your account will now be placed in a queue for moderator approval.
It will help us to approve your application if you include information in your profile fields:

If your email address is anonymous, and you don't put any information into your profile fields, your account may be banned and not approved.
Closing Questions
At Safe, we like to ensure that every question on the community gets some form of answer. But, sometimes we miss a ‘new’ question, because it is posted as a comment under an existing thread.
To help prevent that, we’ve started to automatically close questions that already have a Best Answer. Closing a question prevents further comments or answers.
28 days after an answer is selected as the Best Answer, you’ll find this message appear:

We did this to also help encourage asking a new question, rather than posting under an existing question.
Notifications
As part of a larger platform update, the FME Community recently gained a new button for notifications:

When you log into the community, you can click that icon on the menubar to receive updates on community activity in the last 30 days.
Notifications will include:
- Mentions
- Question replies
- New questions in a subscribed category
- Private messages
- Best answers
This tool is independent of any email notifications that you might also receive.
