Let the Games Begin: FME Community Bingo Starts Today!
We’re celebrating summer with a fun surprise - FME Community Bingo kicks off today!
Starting Monday, August 11, 2025, we’re inviting all FME users to join in on a fun and interactive way to connect with fellow members of the FME Community.
Whether you’re answering a question, uploading an image, or participating in a team challenge, each completed task earns you a square on the Bingo board - and every square is a chance to win exciting prizes!
Here’s how it works:
Complete tasks across the FME Community (click a square to reveal the task)
Earn squares on your Bingo board (red = incomplete, green = complete, blue = community task)
Each square equals 1 entry into our end-of-event prize draw
Bonus entries for completing rows or forming the X pattern
The more squares you complete, the more chances you have to win! Winners will be chosen by random draw.
Play to win:
First place: $250 Everything Gift Card
Second place: $100 gift card
Third place: $100 gift card
Plus four virtual badge awards
Login to your FME Community account and join the Bingo fun here! The contest runs until August 31, 2025.

Let’s play it! :)
Tried to play the Smarter Than Chat GPT square, and the pictures were taking 10-15 seconds each to load. With a 4 minute timer, that was a lot of wasted time. Also suggest that Submit automatically goes to next, instead of having to press one button after the other.
Even on a second run through and knowing half the answers, I timed out before reaching the 10th question.
Hi @jdh - sorry about that. I just resized all the images so it should take a lot less time to load. My bad for not resampling everything first.
Yes, submit going straight to the next question is a good idea. I’ll see if I can do it.
I reset your quiz score, so if you take it again now, it will count towards the bingo square. Maybe refresh the page before trying again, so the new images are more likely to load.
Regards
Mark
I removed the Next button too and just left the submit button to submit and go to the next question

I have to say I had the same issue as well. Images took too long for me to load yesterday. But they were great. So hard haha
I retook the quiz, it was much smoother this time. I deliberately tanked the questions I got wrong the first time to make the score more realistic. At least 2 of them I would never have gotten in a million years.
Anybody else having an issue uploading an image to square 6? I get “Error uploading image” when pressing the Upload image button.

I don’t get that, no. I tried with both jpg and png and it was fine. But I just noticed these errors which might be your file:
2025-8-18 12:50:36 | JPEG reader: `/data/fmeflow/resources/system/temp/requestdata/15406986871401123809/quizZero.jpg' not recognized as being in a supported file format. 2025-8-18 12:50:36 | JPEG reader: Failed to open the dataset '/data/fmeflow/resources/system/temp/requestdata/15406986871401123809/quizZero.jpg'. Please ensure source data is valid and correct reader is selected
Can you try a different jpg file? Or check that this is OK by reading it with FME DI/Workbench? There’s something about it that FME doesn’t like.
My image was called T1.jpg I converted it to png and it uploaded without issue. I’m including the original jpg here if you want to see why FME doesn’t like it. None of the other software had any issues.
AnchoredSnapper! Very good. Anyway, I’ll download the file and see if I can figure out why FME doesn’t like it.
@jdh - that’s interesting. The file appears to be webp format. But even though it’s webp with a png extension, browsers, Slack, etc will still read it. I’ve put a query in with our developers to see if we should switch to a webp reader automagically when a png reader fails.
In the meantime, can you convert it from webp to a true png and try again? I can recommend some format conversion software if it would help!
I just opened the jpg in Windows Photos and saved as png. Wasn’t planning on spending more than a coffee break on this.
@jdh Yes, this appears to be a known problem with ChatGPT. It tells you that it has created a png image (complete with .png file extension) but in fact it is a webp format image.
A web browser will happily look through the header to find out the real format of the data. FME won’t.
Currently, I can’t think how to update my FME workspace to try the webp reader if the png reader fails. So I think the only solution is to convert them manually using the FME webp reader/png writer before trying to upload them to the contest.
@mark2atsafe It was Microsoft Copilot, but presumably the same issue.
Hey FYI all, we got 16/50 people on the Task 10: Are You Smarter than ChatGPT?… let’s gooooooo!😂
Almost there for the Community Spotlight Challenge - 9/10! One more!!!
It is now 16/25. Seems to be difficult getting it in the first try.
Alas the remaining two squares I have control over require posting on social media platforms I’m not a part of.
Almost there… that “ChatGPT” square is going to allude us all!
Carlos’s Bingo Square, before he gets that August Calendar badge today…. wooooooooo!
Yes, get your August calendar badge now! I think it’s UTC time that counts, so about 6.5 hours left to earn it.

I apologise for that, but, well, you know how it is. But I think we’d be ok with any social platform, not just those two. Even if you just posted something to this thread or somewhere else on the community.
