All required Microsoft Redistributables are provided by the FME installer. This list should not be required. Some have asked for this list - it would be ideal to know why in order to consider making improvements.

----------

FME 2019+: VS2008, VS2010, VS2012, VS2013, VS2017.

FME 2016+: VS2005, VS2008, VS2010, VS2012, VS2013, VS2015.

FME 2015: VS2005, VS2008, VS2010, VS2012, VS2013.

Last year, I experienced that FME Desktop 2016 64-bit could not be installed onto Windows 10 and it was resolved with installing this package manually.

Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Update

I don't know if VC++ 2005 redistributable was actually required for FME. Is there anyone who has the same experience?

This was needed not for the standard FME Installer (as it comes with vcredist included, as you say) - but for the FME OEM - integrations. Sorry for not being clear about this. This list is anyway a great summary ! aaronkoning

I've added that to the list above. It was not in the answer when I first posted it.

In general, our recommendation for all subsequent versions of FME:

  • install the latest updates of all these packages

Because, we are pretty on top of upgrading to the latest updates of these packages, and they should be backward compatible.

For FME2021 32 bit. Can you remove some of these to reduce the installation size and only install FME? This is for the OEM package - and NOT the FME Workbench default install. So to reduce the size needed for applications integrated with FME that does not use the GUI of FME.

Also for the FME2023 64-bit, same question.
