Can one pass a user parameter into the JSON Network Authentication Username and Password Fields?

Hello @townest, thanks for posting to the FME Community! May I ask what Reader/Writer you're trying to add authentication too?
Usually there is a drop down arrow beside the authentication parameters, which allows you to create a new user parameter or use an existing one:
