When viewing a profile registered with the Knowledge Center there is a "Correctness" statistic and I find it somewhat misleading. When answering questions a member is only presumed "Correct" if his answer is chosen as "The Best Answer". There are a lot of times when a person asks a Question and "The Best Answer" is not selected, so the percentage goes down. Also, with members engaging in conversations using the Answers tab instead of the Comments tab makes it so its not long before their "Correctness" percentage goes down. I suggest that instead of the "Correctness" stat a number of "Best Answers" is displayed on a user's profile. When a new member joins the forum and receives an answer from someone with a correctness percentage of "33%" there might be misunderstanding.

Yes, it's a bit misleading, but note that you can answer and you can comment (like I'm doing now). You can give as much comments as you want and it won't affect your "correctness". Now the nice thing is that you can even turn an answer into a comment (if < 1200 characters) or vice versa by clicking on the little gear next to your post. You can't do this directly after you posted it though.

So after you answered, you could wait a while and if your answer is never voted as the "best answer" by the user (which happens often because the user doesn't know they can do that), you could turn your answer into a comment, for example. The user (or a moderator on this forum) can always turn your comment back into the answer again.

Agreed.

It's quite easy to post an Answer accidentally instead of replying with a comment, the page space for adding a comment is quite small compared to the Anwer part. And a good discussion is often invaluable to a good answer. Styling-wise I think the discussion could be a bit larger as well.

We also can't expect everyone to flag the best answers (there might be multiple), though perhaps we can encourage them a little more. A solid number instead of a percentage would be a good solution for now, I think.

Indeed! And fixing that is extremely easy, because the variables are already there. Instead of having numOfBestAnswers / numOfAnswers * 100 = Correctness, just use numOfBestAnswers.

Thank you for your input @sander_s, it is a good thing to keep in mind. I knew that I was able to turn my answers into comments, but it does not help those who are seeking answers via a quick Google search. They will stumble upon the question in the knowledge center that fits their own and they won't be able to see an answer there, even though the question matches. So there is a chance they won't read the comments, because there isn't an answer available.

True.. I guess the forum could use some tweaking! Also don't like the fact that if you expand a comments branch, it only shows the first 4 and not all of them. People then need to press "Show More Comments", but not everyone notices that.

We totally agree @rycharg - it is misleading. The % Correct is the percentage of answers that a user provided that were marked as accepted (best) by the author of the question or a moderator. We will change "Correct" to something that is more reflective....perhaps "Accepted Answer". Thanks for pointing this out!

Thank you for replying @MitaAtSafe!

Now I just want to make sure ...

The "Accepted Answer" would still come off as a little negative if it was portrayed by a percentage value, so I do suggest that you provide a solid value of "Accepted Answers" for that. It is important to keep in mind what the purpose is of a statistic on a user's page. "Accepted Answers" would speak of a user's experience, credibility and ability to give detailed / easy to follow answers. Also, with the number of answers and the number of "Accepted Answers" anyone interested in a percentage can easily calculate it.

(It is important as to how one displays statistics. Because saying that "12.9% of the world lacks nourishment" [is starving] as opposed to "some 795 million people" [795 million individuals!] has a different impact to it.)

Yes, @rycharg, how one displays statistics can have very different impacts for sure. We will consider this when we decide how to make adjustments. Thanks again!

Hi @rycharg for the people who do not choose an answer, it would be great if the Knowledge Center would allow other members to decide as well. Let's say if the owner of the question does not vote after a week, it will be open to the rest of the users, or perhaps the users with more than 1000 reputation ...
