Using the AttributeManager some users have reported that it is hard to tell the different Actions apart and colour coding or icons might help. If you agree please up-vote or if you have a better idea please comment.

I'd prefer to be able to sort the attribute list on an arbitrary column, but in particular on the Action column.

I agree with @david_r. I think being able to sort the attributes by Action would be more helpful than color-coding.

I strongly back the idea. The neighbouring if 'Set Value' tend to also change to Set Value. It ends up emptying columns which is hard to track down in a larger workspace. Different colours would be a big help to spot out these accidental changes at the first place.

As long as the sort was visual only, and not affect the order the actions are taken in. I have a lot of situations where there is an interdependence among the attributes.

ie create attribute A as a conditional expression using Attribute X

create attribute B involving A and Y

delete Attribute X

A very handy trick would be able to toggle the visibility of the "Do Nothing" Actions in AttributeManager between on/off (hide/display). We typically are only reshaping one, two or okay alot of attributes but we only revisit those subset of fields.

You might need to expose the attr{order} or grey the field ordering buttons, but I would like to sort as david suggests or hide the unmodified from AttrMgr pane.

He he, I just suggested the same two improvements (color coding and sorting), having not seen this post (didn't show when I searched). Go team! :-)

Hiding "Do Nothing" attributes would be my number one change. When dealing with features with a large number of attributes I often avoid the AttributeManager as it becomes difficult to see what the transformer is doing.

I agree wholeheartedly. This is the number one reason for me currently not using the AttributeManager at all.
