I would like to be able to set a feature service URL within the ArcGIS Online reader/writer. Doing so would make it easier to change to new services and see exactly which of several similarly named services are in use.

Also would be good so it isn't dependent upon who owns an item or what folder it's in :) We recently renamed some folders and I had to rename one back to what it was originally for a job to run and then renamed it to what it was.

Plus this would open up opportunities to edit using non portal/agol rest services.

Absolutely support this - the existing AGOL Feature Service Reader/Writer are restricted to using web connections and it's not possible to easily change/update the URL and this makes the workspace not very portable.

For example, we often develop and test against one service in our own AGOL account and then deliver the workspace to a customer to run. At the moment they have to create their own web connection and then delete and recreate the reader/writer in order to re-point it at their feature service.

Using the feature service URL would be way more flexible, with option to authenticate with username/password rather than using a web connection, which isn't portable.

100% needed, many of us operate on the rest endpoint level (not items) and are very specific about what we want to look at or update.
