To add the current date and time into the name of the log fie, you have to use a scripted parameter using Python or Tcl.

As not all of us are able to do so, I would like to see a setting in the FME Options panel, that enables suffixing the Log File Name with the current date and time.

Preferred would be the ability to choose a format for the TimeStamp.

+1 from me!

With a link back to the current approach https://knowledge.safe.com/questions/23147/date-and-time-in-logfile-name.html

You'd like to create a Looping Transformer? Why didn't you say so, just go here:

Now, where are the Smiley emoticons? :0)

I agree. This is such a common/basic need that it would be great if it were supported more directly, with a couple of formatting options as well.

Agree. This would be useful when batch-running a workspace (WorkspaceRunner). As well when running the same workspace regularly, to keep track of change over time. It's doable to script the name, but it should be easier.

I have a workspace who's sole purpose is to store various scripted parameters so I can copy them to a new workspace. One of the most used of those is the parameter for time stamping the log.

I would love this as well. Especially for batch workflows where you are running the same workspace over and over.

I need this so often. It should just be built in to FME. When the logging starts, just toss a date/time in there. It already shows 20 lines of system information about memory, etc.

Just put it right after Machine Name.
