Question

Specifying SQLNET.ORA file

Hi!

Has anyone ever had the need to specify which sqlnet.ora file FME uses?

Unfortunately, I need to use 2 different ones to access various Oracle databases and FME does not like the one I use mainly.  I have tried hacking about with both version to merge them but then I have FME not working or TOAD not working, or in some cases neither!

Any suggestions would be great as I am fed up having to keep swapping over :(

Hi Rob,

i am not sure if you can specifiy which file to use if there are more than one (sqlnet.ora and tnsnames.ora).

But perhaps you could just specifiy the complete connection info in FME:

- Database:    machine_name/db_instance_name

- Username and Password

This way at least FME does not need the ora-files.

Kind regards,

Tino

Hi Tino,

Thanks for your reply.

Specifiying the complete connection would not be the most time productive way forward as we use FME on multiple databases and the majority of the time we use legacy workbenches and the users who created have long since left and no one is sure on what/how they work!

Regards,

Rob
