When attempting to restore FME Server from a downloaded fsconfig file, with or without "Overwrite Existing Items" selected, the restore fails with no message.

When doing the restore with the backup data stored in a resource location, the restore is successful. However, this isn't an option as we are doing the backup/restore process to upgrade FME Server in place, and the uninstall process could possibly delete the backup file.

Is there anything we could be doing wrong?

After the restore there should be a button "View details" on the right side which gives you access to the restore log. There's also the "History" section where you can access previous logs.

CaptureThis is all we see after attempting.

The history tab doesn't show the restore attempt at all, so nothing to check there. There isn't anything in the logfile either, regarding either the backup or restore.

Have you looked in the FME Server system logs? See under Resources / Logs / ...

I've checked the logs but there's nothing there regarding backup or restore.

If you can't find anything under resources\\logs\\core\\current\\tasks then it's probably time to contact your FME reseller or Safe support.

I have the same issue with FME Server 2021.1.2 Build 21627.

Is there a fix for this?

If the steps @david_r has outlined above don't bring a solution it's still best to get in touch with your FME reseller or Safe's tech support.

We got this fixed - the issue was with the share we created and the folders had permissions issue. Just make sure the service account you use for installing FME Server has full access to the folder and sub folders.
