We’re thrilled to announce some important changes to the Ideas Board in the FME Community that will bring more transparency, ease of use, and a clearer view of how your ideas are progressing.

As we continue to grow, we’re committed to making sure your input has a direct impact on the development of FME, and we want to ensure you have a simple, effective way to track your ideas and feedback.

What’s New?

We’ve made several key improvements, making it easier to stay engaged and informed about the ideas you’ve submitted and those shared by users.

Here’s a breakdown of the changes:

  1. Revised Filtering and Improved Navigation
  • We’ve added tabs at the top for more relevant idea statuses: Open, Gathering Interest, In Development, Released, and All Ideas. Each tab now clearly describes its status.
  • The “New” and “Archived” statuses are now included in the All Ideas tab, streamlining your search experience. (Note: “New” ideas awaiting moderation will appear in the All Ideas tab, but once reviewed can be seen in the Open Ideas tab.)
  • The ability to filter by Product Area and sort ideas has been retained. We’ve also added “Website” as a product type, giving you the space to provide Ideas for any Safe websites, including the FME Community.
  1. Enhanced Visual Design
  • The Ideas Hall of Fame has been replaced by the Released tab, making it easier to find ideas that have been brought to life.
  • We’ve restyled and moved the Idea Guidelines and Submit an Idea buttons to improve accessibility. The guidelines now open in a new tab, so you can refer to them while browsing ideas.
  1. Better Integration with Our Product Team
  • We’ve improved internal automations to keep our product team informed and engaged with your ideas.
  • Ideas that gain traction are integrated into their workflows, helping us close the feedback loop more effectively.
  • You may notice more updates from our team as a result! We’ll be spending more time here actively engaging with your ideas, providing updates, and collaborating with you to ensure your feedback helps shape the development FME.

Your Input Matters

The changes we’ve made reflect our ongoing commitment to transparency and responsiveness.

As a reminder, the Ideas Board serves as a reliable source for the product team to gather feedback, helping us understand what features and enhancements are most important to you. We encourage all users - whether you're a new member or a long-time participant - to engage, upvote ideas, and submit new ones.

How You Can Participate

  • Upvote ideas you support to help highlight what’s important.
  • Submit original ideas that you’d like to see implemented in FME.
  • Comment and add feedback on existing ideas to help us refine and improve them.

Read the updated Ideas Guidelines to learn more about how to contribute and stay engaged.

What’s Next?

We are committed to making this space as active as possible. When you engage with the Ideas Board, you’ll see meaningful interactions from Product Managers and the development team. Your input will drive tangible outcomes, helping to shape the future of FME.

We’ll soon be making another bulk update to idea statuses based on input from our team. If your idea is affected, you’ll receive an email notification before the changes take effect.

If you have any feedback on the new Ideas page, we’d love to hear from you at the bottom of this post! We’re always looking to improve and provide you with the best possible experience.
