fme not opening after entering R path

Hi All,

Workbench, Inspector etc. do not open after I entered the R path in the path location option.

It did work neatly (the path and all are valid, though not using the default plug-in path), until I shut down the application. When trying to (re)start it gets as far as the splash screen for loading GUI. Then it just pops away.

Event Viewer says:

Faulting application name: fmeworkbench.exe, version: 2018.7.34.18301, time stamp: 0x5ad2626a

Faulting module name: unknown, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x00000000

Exception code: 0xc0000005

Fault offset: 0x0000000000000000

Faulting process id: 0xce0

Faulting application path: D:\\PROG\\FME\\fmeworkbench.exe

Faulting module path: unknown

Faulting package full name:

Faulting package-relative application ID:

Does anyone know how to solve this?

Can I somehow reset the location (mind you I can't open the workbench, using certain user profiles)

Can I access the settings file to do so?

This sounds like a bug to me. We'll try to reproduce the problem, and keep you updated. Thanks @gio for bringing this to our attention.

Hi @gio, Looks like this issue will need some further investigation. We haven't been able to reproduce the problem yet. Would you mind file a Problem Report with the following information, to help us debug this further?

  • The workspace you were running before you shut down FME
  • The custom path you set to R
  • R version
  • a screenshot of the error you get (if any), when trying to launch Workbench
Thank you @gio!

somehow it is linked to user profiles.

Some conflict in the profile must cause the crash. And it occurred when entering the R path and saving the settings.

Login in with a corrupted profile and starting fme as "different" user starts fme normally.

We are still looking for a solution.

De-installing R and fme and reinstalling just FME does not relieve the problem...alas.
