Converting CityGML to a 3d model with textures

I'm trying to convert a CityGML file into a 3d model that I could open with Blender, I was able to use FME data inspector to convert it to .obj, but it doesn't come with any textures. How can I convert CityGML to .obj or other 3d format with textures included?

EDIT: And by the way I have never used FME before, and I'm not planning to use it for anything else than converting CityGML to 3d models, so explaining the process step-by-step would be really helpful.

Should be a simple worklfow. FME Should automatically read the textures and write them out to obj without doing much. Sorry to hear that it didn't work in the data inspector. You might want to look in to the FME Quick Translator.

If the geometries look ok in your output but the textures aren't there, then I would try the Quick translator.

HI @kaama ,

I don't know much about Blender, but .obj format itself seems not to store texture information (see this article). Maybe you should go for a different format.

Hope that helps!

@virtualcitymatt Thank you so much, that worked! The dataset I'm trying to convert is the 3d CityGML map of Helsinki, which seems to be made by the company you work for.

Great to hear!

We didn't make that particular model, just advised and assisted. They used some of our tools in making it though, and use our platform for the 3d web viewer. It's a great team of people they have there working on it

@kaama @virtualcitymatt @davtorgh Hi all,

Hello @mubashir636 , would you mind posting a new question to the FME Community? It would be great to include more information about your workflow, or screenshots for context! We have a guide here, for How do I ask a Good Question. Best, Kailin.
