ESRI Writer (SDE, FGDB) no geometry type defined

Hello,

Since one or two major versions (I would say FME 2018 but not 100% sure) of FME Desktop, whenever I import feature classes from dataset of an ESRI writer (SDE, FGDB), they appear in red because the geometry type for the feature class is not configured. I am sure that it was not the case before and this information was retrieved from the geodatabase.

Is it an issue on my side (misconfiguration of the writer ?) or is it on purpose ?

I find it personally quite annoying when importing many feature classes. Is there a workaround ?

Thanks !

@biboba I couldn't reproduce this issue in 2019.2 or 2020. Would you be able to attach a short movie that shows the steps you took to import the feature type? If we can reproduce it here it's something we definitely would try to fix.

Brilliant. Thanks for adding the mp4 @biboba. Those are the same steps I used. So the problem must be related to your configuration e.g. : ArcGIS vs Pro, Geodb created in ArcGIS vs Pro etc. I have ArcGIS 10.7.1 and Pro 2.5. Can you please open a case with , reference this thread and also include your FME log file from when you import the feature classes. We can then see if we can get this fixed.

Glad to read that there is something wrong with my configuration which hopefully can be solved :)

In my case, I have ArcGIS for Desktop 10.4.1 with background geoprocessing 10.4.1 installed as well as ArcGIS Pro 2.5.

I will open a ticket to check with them.

Thanks for quick reply !
