It would be convenient when moving FME Desktop installation from an old machine to a new one if there was a functionality to backup/restore FME Options configuration, especially regarding Database/Web Connections.

This could also restore the way I've trained my FME Desktop to suggest transformers when typing in the canvas.

Good idea. I used to solve this by creating a workspace that moves info from one FME installation to another when installation a new FME version on the same machine. So you could solve this task in the same manner collection files in to a zip-fil and then a workspace that move the files to the correct locations on the new machine.

(the db connections are store in a SQlite database found here (or where you have set your default path): C:\\Users\\user_name\\AppData\\Roaming\\Safe Software\\FME\\fme_connections.data)

How did you do that Ekki?

It seems to be possible to simply export and import data connections, using 2019.1

Select the connections you want to export and right-click to export.

Regularly get asked if this is possible when I'm training organisations who have a few licences or are using floating licences. An export would be really useful rather than having to just export parts bits at a time, such as just bookmark styling and then digging around to pickup the database connections file. Puts me in mind of an FME Server backup but with the ability to chose what part to export and what to import back. Also, similar to this requirement https://knowledge.safe.com/idea/109824/ability-to-reset-all-workbench-settings-to-factory.html?.

FME does that automatically but that information does not get "remembered" for new installs.
