Welcome to another edition of What’s Up Wednesday!
Coming back to my home office from vacation got me thinking about days back in the Safe office. Both Mark and myself work from home permanently from the chilly prairies compared to the balmy Vancouver/Surrey area that the office is in. But that doesn’t stop us from dreaming about the new office. If you haven’t seen our new building or just want to dream of being back in the office, you can go on a tour with Don and Dale through our office back in December.
New Build
FME 2020.1.2.1 (b20624) has been released. No major updates but starting next week, new users can immediately start a 7-day free trial to test out FME without waiting for a license via email.
FME and Web Connections
Jen has been busy updating and creating a ton of new articles for our knowledge base regarding FME and Web Connections! Learn how to create a web connection, add authentication as well as how to access the connections. There are articles specifically about connecting to Yelp and CityWorks with a token. Also, why reinvent the wheel? There are almost 30 web connections already created for you available on the FME Hub.
SharePoint
Speaking of web connections, there is also a new article about creating a SharePoint web connection, which wraps up our series of working with SharePoint in FME.
Have you been working with FME and SharePoint or have another story about FME you’d like to share? Share your stories in the User Stories section of the FME Community.
FME Server vs. FME Cloud
Have you ever wondered why you should get FME Server instead of FME Cloud or vice versa? Stewart has created a comprehensive comparison article to help you decide which platform is right for your needs.
FME Tip of the Week
Did you know that you can zip your output directly in the writer? Just simply add .zip at the end of your file name, or use the zip button next to the dataset name. You can also zip multiple formats into the same folder, just ensure that the folder name is the same for each writer. For more information see the documentation.
Have a great last week of summer (or winter)!
