How can I create a generic writer where the user can choose between DXF and DWG amongst other formats? The problem is that DXF and DWG use the same output format, but with the normal writer the format changes when you change the file extension.

Make a parameter to let the user choose between DXF and DWG and then do a fanout on fme_basename + that parameter.
