Welcome to our April FME Community User Spotlight! Every month, we’ll be spotlighting a user in the community whose active participation and helpful contributions have been invaluable to the community. We’re excited to highlight their experiences and insights!

In anticipation of the Peak of Data & AI 2025 coming up this May, we’ll be featuring speakers from the Peak over the next three months in our spotlights.

User Spotlight: Christoph Dittmann @chditt

What’s your name?

Christoph Dittmann

What company do you currently work for?

Deutsche Telekom IT GmbH

What’s your current job role and title?

Data Engineer

Tell us more about what you do and how you use FME?

I started to work with FME some 10 years ago. At the beginning, the tasks were about simple format transformation and some customized end user data ingestion workflows.

Today, additionally to the good old ETL workflows, the tasks also involve job orchestration within our SDI, as well as data integration of various systems via cloud services and APIs.

Aiming at maximizing the utilisation of FME Flow, I get more and more involved in queue and engine management tasks.

Why did you join the FME Community?

The main reason was to obtain solutions for problems I was working at, assuming that the  community faced similar issues and resolved them. It is amazing how much helpful information is shared here!

What are you speaking about at the Peak of Data & AI 2025?

At Peak 2025, I will talk about how FME has accelerated and standardized fibre rollout within Deutsche Telekom by integrating data from different systems and delivering ready-to-use products, in this case an excavation and installation plan for construction workers.

Why do you think an FME user should attend the Peak 2025?

I think it is the best way to discover the full potential of FME and get inspired by other use cases. It is the perfect opportunity to meet and exchange with other FME users as well as get in touch with Safe Software staff.

If you’ve been to a past user conference hosted by Safe, what’s one of your favourite memories from it?

Yes, I took part in the FME Days 2019 and UC 2022. Each time it was an exceptional event! In addition to the interesting presentations by FME users, the key notes and inspirational talks were also very memorable. Not to forget the relaxed atmosphere and the ‘sock competition/gallery’ :-)

What are you most looking forward to at the Peak 2025?

Insights into AI integration within FME and some inspirational ideas around AI & FME.

If you were stranded on an island and could only bring three things with you, what would they be?

A towel, a knife, and a guitar (maybe I’ve finally have time to learn how to play it).
