FME cannot write Irish National Grid TM65 coordinate system to Esri formats

Whenever I try to write data in Irish National Grid TM65 (EPSG:29902) to Esri formats, FME writes Irish National Grid TM75 (EPSG: 29903) instead.

The only time FME writes the desired coordinate system is if my source data is from an Esri format that is already in TM65.

How can I get FME to write the desired coordinate system?

According to Ordnance Survey Ireland, there is no difference between EPSG:29902 and 29903, although the EPSG has a different opinion. At Safe, we try to follow the lead of the originating authority, and so both EPSG definitions map to the same FME definition, which we map to the TM75 WKT when writing to Esri formats.

When reading from Esri formats, like shape files, FME retains the original WKT, which is used when writing back to Esri formats. This is why converting from shape files produces the TM65 coordinate system for the output.

We have created a workaround for customers who would prefer the EPSG differentiation. Please copy the files in the attached zip into the following folders on your computer:

IrishNationalGrid.fme -> Documents\FME\CoordinateSystems

IrishNationalGrid.db -> Documents\FME\CoordinateSystemExceptions

After restarting FME, EPSG:29902 and 29903 will map to separate FME coordinate systems, which in turn will map to the appropriate Esri definitions.

Hi @daveatsafe , I have come across the same issue mentioned above where I need to write my data out to EPSG:29902 however it defaults to EPSG:29903. I was wanting to try the fix that you suggested however, I am unable to access the zip folder as there doesn’t seem to be a download link? Would you be able to provide the files again?

Hi @swright ,

Sorry about that. The zip file link has been enabled again.
