We've been using FME Desktop for some time with great success. It has given us the ability to transactionally export data from the GIS source, translate it into our required format (in this MapInfo TAB). To reduce the overhead of processing and network traffic, we’ve been using the “cookie-cut” transformer which allows us to focus solely on a small section.
There may be the possibility for us to use raster images (aerial photography) in the near future, which may help with the map plots to provide more detail.
Is there any way to use a “cookie-cut” function, similar to what we’re doing now, to help us keep the processing and bandwidth overhead to a minimum on raster data?
