Projects: prompt and list contents to be overwritten

Currently you have to check the option to overwrite contents when importing a Project. If you forget to check the box, you might think that the import process was successful, but if an item already existed, it will be left as is. It is preferable from a UI perspective to get prompted if an imported Project contains items that already exist, listing out what those are, and give the option to overwrite any of those listed items. Do away with the checkbox and prompt instead!

From another perspective, it doesn't make sense to test an exported project by re-importing without overwriting. Why not have a button that checks the file? The first assumption with the concept of importing is that it will either overwrite or create new instances of duplicates - certainly not as a checker.

As of FME 2023.1, you now have complete visibility into what you are importing if you do a "Preview Import". You can see which items are new and which items would be overwritten. Hopefully, this solves your issue. I am going to mark this idea as released. If it does not solve your issue then comment and we can reopen.

Thanks Stewart, this sounds promising. Looking forward to testing it.
