Coordinate system British National Grid Long/Lat (OSGB 36) [EPSG: 4277] to British National Grid (OSGB 36) [EPSG: 27700]

Forum|alt.badge.img

Hello All,

British National Grid Long/Lat (OSGB 36) [EPSG: 4277] seems to be missing from FME's suite of coordinate systems - or am I mistaken?

I have a table with Longitude and Latitude data in this projection and I want to create points from them, and then convert them to British National Grid (Meters) (OSGB 36) [EPSG: 27700]. I can try to use the Reprojector transformer, but I can't see EPSG: 4277 anywhere.

Is there anything which I could use instead? Or is there another solution such as creating a custom coordinate system?

Many thanks,

Jane

OSGB36 LL and National Grid seem to have been added to FME 2023.

Do you have ArcGIS installed on the same machine? If you do, you can use the EsriReprojector transformer

Many thanks for this - no, I don't, but I have QGIS (though I have only dabbled with it) which may have similar? My problem is, though, that while I can transform the data in MapInfo, I would really like to be able to create a workspace in FME (as I have several tables) so I can run the process repeatedly.

Many thanks,

Jane

The EsriReprojector is a transformer within FME that uses the Esri libraries, not much help for you though.

You should be able to create a custom coordinate system. This link may help
