Deploy FME Server on the Digital Ocean droplets Cloud and ESRI systems

Badge +5

Hi everyone!

In order to reduce increases, we want to move the FME Server in the cloud, currently on the AWS platform, to the Digital Ocean platform.

The best options are installation on top of Linux.

I know FME will work great with Linux, our problem is that we work continuously with ESRI systems (sde, gdb), and I know it requires an ArcPro or Enterprise license, at least on Windows.

Is the situation similar in Linux?

I ask, because ArcGis Pro does not have a Linux deployment option.

Would appreciate help!

Thanks!

Legally, I believe you need to install ArcGIS Enterprise on the same machine as your FME Server.

But for a more nuanced explanation, have a look at this article: https://community.safe.com/s/article/using-fme-server-with-esri-software

I believe that SDE support is Windows only. Safe used to have an informative page with supported formats and operating systems here but since the rebrand the info is hard to find.

Thanks you all!

If someone from @safesoftware safesoftware can help us, it will be great.

And @david_r ,if I understood correctly, what you suggges will help with gdb, but not sde..?

You can read and write FGDB without using any ArcGIS libraries, with some caveats. Otherwise you'll need the licensed ArcGIS libraries, however I cannot say anything about Linux compatibility here.

Hi @dor1411993 ,

Most Esri formats are restricted to Windows environments only. The article below helps outline the compatibility of the various formats with not just versions of FME but also OS

I hope this helps provide some clarification!
