I've inherited a number of FME workbenches that I'm trying to decipher and where possible redesign to improve future decipherability. I'm noticing that for certain writers, if I add a new one that is of the same type as one already in the FMW, parameters are different. How can I tell what version (vintage) a certain writer is. Do I need to dig through release notes?

Hover over the reader/writer in the Navigator window and it should tell you:
Notice that the "version" is tied to the version/build of FME used. There aren't explicit version numbers like there are for transformers.
Nice... I've completely missed that until now. And I find that if you Right-click and Update, which I thought only updates connections, parameters, etc., it updates the version, too. Heck, didn't realize that. Thanks!
