FME Desktop Mac running sluggish

My installation of FME Desktop for Mac has been running more and more sluggish for some time. The interface is very slow to respond. With the latest 2021.0 it has become annoyingly slow. It is not the actual processing that is the issue, but the software itself. There is a delay in scrolling around the workspace, menues and transformers are slow to open, and so on. I tried to uninstall all traces of FME Desktop and reinstall, but it did not help.

It is running on a new and maxed out Mac Mini so hardware should not be the issue. Looking at the stats there is lots of unused memory and procesing power.

Any ideas on what I could do to speed up performance?

Hi @aron thanks for your post. I would be interested to see if you experience the same performance with FME 2021.1 Beta. Also is your Mac Mini running the M1 chip? Do you have older licenses of FME on the Mac? For reference, I am looking at this post from the Community where there were performance issues.

Yes, I do belive that there might be some old traces of FME. Will use the links you provided to try and purge them. Thanks for the tip! Unfortunately no M1 yet on my desk.

Checked and there was only a recent license file, no old ones.

Hmmm ok thanks for checking. Any luck with the beta?

I installed the beta and played around with it a bit. Us humans are not the best at estimating time but I feel that this, and previously erasing all traces of older versions, has made the workspace a bit snappier. Although it still has some way to go until it feels "flowy".
