Hi,

Since I came in this morning my FME Desktop has been running very laggy. Every time I try to move a transformer/reader/writer it stalls and then the buffering wheel comes up for 30 seconds. I have both 2019 and 2018.1 installed on my machine and both are running the same way. Any ideas how I can fix this?

Thanks for any help.

B

Could be all kinds of things that very often have little to do with FME, e.g. OS updates, antivirus, backups, ...

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Yes, twice.

Hi B,

I would do the following:

  • Check for rogue FME processes on your machine
  • Purge your temp location of any old files.
  • Restart FME.
  • Restart your machine.

Hope this helps,

Itay

If the suggestions from @itay don't solve it check your Task Manager when FME is running and see which process is taking a lot of processor time.

A re-install might be the solution.

Tried all of the above, but to no avail. I have IT on it here, but we can't figure it out.

Thanks

These are the only FME processes running. We are probably going to try and install 2019.1 if all else fails in the next hour.

Thanks for your help.

I've had this issue when there are lots of old licence files on the machine (even though FME was pointing to an entirely different place

I had a number of old licenses on the machine, we removed these and recreated the workbench and this seems to have solved the problem. Thanks for all the help.
