Hello all,

I am trying to convert an ifc file (Industry Foundation Class STEP file) to MapInfo.

I can get FME to read the ifc and it displays objects in FME. But if fails on writing to MapInfo.

I understand that ifc is three-dimensional objects, so I just want a two-dimensional representation. I tried using 2DForcer, but am not getting results.

I have attached the ifc file here

Hi @nicholas

There are multiple TAB-writers:

The 2DForcer makes them 2D - but they are Aggregates - so you need to Deaggregate also

To be sure you are only writing legal geometry you can use a GeometryFilter to see only Point/Line/Area-features and then send these to the writer:

It seems you also need to set the correct coordinate system by using a Coordinatesystemsetter before writing.
