Question

DGN V8 won't show up in FME Data Inspector.

Hi,

I have two Microstation V8 file that's suppose line up side by side spatially, but for some reason one file won't line up correctly. FILE_01.dgn looks correct when I view in FME Data Inspector, however FILE_02.dgn shows up as a empty screen. Yet when I open the file in Bently Data Viewer, I can see the data. I suspect it's some sort of Global Origins issues, however, I don't have access to Microstation and not sure how to trouble shoot.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Thomas

Hi Thomas @thchan83

may I ask you to submit a support case via https://www.safe.com/support/report-a-problem/ with both dgn-files attached? FME 2016 has no difficulties with file-02.dgn, however both - FME 2017 and FME 2018 beta - do not display this file correctly. We definitely need to investigate.

Meanwhile, you might want to experiment with older FME which can be downloaded from https://www.safe.com/support/support-resources/fme-downloads/archived/ I tested with b.16569 and had no difficulties displaying both files. You can have more than one FME install on your machine - please make sure you install FME 2016 into a new folder to avoid overwriting your current FME 2017 install.

I apologize for the inconvenience caused by this problem.

Yes, I was able to open the file with FME 2016, but like you said, it seem to fail when using FME 2015, 2017, and 2018 Beta. As suggested,I will submit a official FME support ticket.
