I'm getting an error associated with 'pmi_is_error' global variable. Does anyone have any ideas of what might be causing it?

I have a workspace which has worked previously but now keeps giving me the following error message:

 

Attempting to retrieve global variable 'pmi_is_error' which was not set -- setting it to the empty string

Failed to create process, error was 'Access is denied.

 

Does anyone know what this error might be associated with with or how I could approach solving it?

 

I've tried searching for it but haven't found anything useful so far.
