Hi everybody,

has anyone successfully run FME with a node locked license as a MS RemoteApp? If this is possible, would it be legal?

Cheers

Hi @jutzin,

With my understanding that RemoteApp is similar to a thin-end client like Citrix, a license is required for each user who will be using the software. From the documentation: To install FME on a server for use with a thin-end client (for example a Citrix/Winframe installation), it is highly recommended that you use a floating license. Fixed licenses can be used, but keep in mind that you will need a fixed license for each user who will be making use of the software.

Kind regards, Natalie

It's technically possible, although I'm not sure about the legal aspects which I'll defer to someone from Safe.

Thanks for your insight. I wonder if people from safe read these discussion threads and would elaborate on the licensing aspects of running FME as a remote app.

Yes, they do read the forums, but I'm not certain if they read everything. If you don't get a reply here, consider opening a support ticket, you're guaranteed an official reply that way.
