We wanted to give partners the heads-up that we are updating our SLA terms for 2019. An email will be going out to all active customers (within privacy, anti-spam rules for each jurisdiction) once FME 2019.0 is released. The three key changes are as follows:

1) We made it easier to understand how you can use free licenses such as Home Use, Recent Graduate, Educational, Grant Program, Demonstration and Development Program licenses.

2) We now expressly allow FME Server to be used as part of a web service or cloud-based application as long as there is added functionality. This opens up the option for customers to use FME Cloud or FME Server for web services offered to the public.

3) We clarified that consultants cannot use their own FME licenses to provide paid consulting services. The end customer must have their own FME license. (This has always been the case due to the restriction on processing third party data, but we made the language even more explicit.)

If you want to read our full terms please go here: https://www.safe.com/legal/ and click on the “FME Software License Agreement”.

In the next few weeks, we will also be adding an FAQ document to this legal page in order to answer common SLA questions. If you have any questions that you would like to see included as part of this FAQ document, please email them to . Please email Angela or your CAM for any other questions or concerns.
