GeometryValidator

In FME 2013, there is a 'REPAIRED' port on the GeometryValidator transformer.  In FME 2012 there is not.  Has anyone built a 2012 workspace that attempts to repair FAILED port features?  Can you share advice/guidance?

Thanks

Hi,

It depends on kind of issue and / or geometry type. For example, if you need to repair self-intersections of line geometries, Intersector + Aggregator might be available to get a similar result to the GeometryValidator of FME 2013. This is maybe one of the simplest example. Different issue / geometry type needs different solution, it's difficult to answer generally. If you post the actual situation you are facing, we can consider a solution.

Hi,

just be aware that the GeometryValidator in FME2012 and 2013 have almost nothing in common, it was a one of the major rewrites for FME2013.

Otherwise, as Takashi says, there are no easy and fool-proof recipies for fixing invalid geometries, it will all depend on the type of geometries, constraints (topology?) and problems detected.

Have a look in the Transformer Gallery, a lof of the transformers found under "Filters" and "Geometric operators" can be helpful for fixing geometries.
