Greetings,

I received an .osgb file w/ textures that I need to convert to an .obj so that I can open it in Maya- I also need the supplied textures to link to the .obj. I downloaded and installed the Mac trial FME software and received the activation key but when I click on FME Workbench, the prompt to insert the activation key does not appear- please tell me what I'm overlooking, thanks. Attached shows my downloaded and installed FME software

Hi @teddyg,

sorry to hear that it hasn't been a smooth start just yet! Have you been able to open Workbench or the Data Inspector since? Clicking on either of those for the first time should present a licensing assistant dialog with a button to 'Activate Trial License' which should look like the image below:

What happens for you when you try to open FME Workbench? If it seems to be hanging, any screenshots you can share of the splashscreen would be really helpful.

Something else to try is to Command-Space search for the FME Licensing Assistant (app) and see if that opens the dialog for you. There's a bit more context in this article here on Where to Find My FME Licensing Assistant. Don't hesitate to reach out as well on any of the emails from the trial, we're happy to troubleshoot there as well.

When I click on any of the 3 choices an error message appears and no License Assistant shows up. I see nothing on the Desktop Installer either- thanks

@teddyg,

Thanks for sharing the screenshots! The error message is helpful. What version of MacOS are you running? Officially, we support Catalina and Mojave according to our technical specifications.

If you run the first part of the installer dialog, it'll give you the build version as part of the window dialog title, can you tell me what build of FME it is that you have installed?

One troubleshooting step to try is a reinstall in case you may just have had a bad install. There's more information in reinstalling in this article here. Please let me know how the reinstall goes and if you have any success in opening FME.

Thanks again- that explains my problem since I'm still on El Cap. Project went to someone else so no need to respond

I was able to download an older version compatible w/ my OS and launched the software- now have to see if I can get it to convert an .osgb to an .obj

excellent, glad that you got that worked out! Feel free to post a new question for OSGB to OBJ help if you hit any snags.
