I'm getting a notification that my license is about to expire and wondering why.

FME has the ability to stack functionality of licenses together, to add additional functionality or to accommodate multiple licenses.
A common occurrence is when a user activates their permanent license, but they have an evaluation license on the same computer that hasn’t expired. They will see multiple licenses and they will receive a warning when the temporary license is about to expire.

FME warns when any of the license files in place are going to expire. To remove the warning you can delete any of the temp licenses (aka licenses with expiry dates) from the licenses directory. This will remove the warning, or just let the license expire. Just because you are getting a warning doesn't mean you will be without a license.

This is the message you will see in the FME Licensing Assistant - FME Professional Edition is the permanent license; FME Database is the temporary license - with 29 days remaining before expiration.

I have this problem too, but my licenses directory is empty and I still get the warning. When I activate a permanent license that license is not included in the loist of following licenses that I now have:

How can I fix this?

FME Desktop fixed node license files can be found in a number of locations depending on the version you are currently using or have used in the past. Here is a link to an article that describes possible locations.

The license files (.fmelic) can be opened in a text editor. You will want to look at the EXPIRY field, your permanent license will say permanent, the other(s) will have a date, these temporary files can be deleted and this will prevent any further confusion.
