I have noticed that FME Desktop startup is very slow when using VPN. It can take 2-3 minutes just to start FME, without loading a workspace. When not using VPN, it takes about 5 seconds to start FME.

The same problem occurs when starting a workspace. When using VPN, it can take 1-2 minutes just to start the workspace. Without VPN, it´s instantaneous. Any suggestions on how to solve this?

 

I use Windows 10, 64 bit, FME 2020.0 using SCCM, fixed license.

    I experience similar behavior. I believe the slowness is because when FME loads it reads and checks all your shared resources (Web Connections, Transformers etc). I my case, all of these are stored one the network and because the VPN is slower it takes longer to read them all.

     

    Also, if i don't manually open the mapped drive our shared connections are on before I open FME, I get a bunch of errors because it can't load the shared resources
