What Flexera LM version is needed for FME Desktop 2019.1.2.0 floating licenses? In this case the customer is using the ArcGIS License Manager 2018.1 an therefore FLEXnet Publisher 11.14.1.2 (Note: FLEXnet Licensing Service - 11.14.1.3)

Are there any other things to consider when using ArcGIS License Manager with FME Desktop floating licenses?

Thank you in advance for your help! Cheers - Martin

Depending on your organization's firewall settings, you may wish to specify which port each software is using instead of just the default next available port in the range 1700-1710.

See https://docs.safe.com/fme/html/FME_Desktop_Documentation/FME_Desktop_Admin_Guide/FMEInstallation/Specifying_Floating_License_Server_Ports.htm for instructions.

We have 5 different software companies using flexlm, and specifying the ports was required to get them to all play nicely with each other.

Note that flexlm is generally backwards compatible, so that if one software needs version 11.13.1.1, it should run on 11.14.1.3. If you have multiple versions of lmtools and you are configuring to run as services, changing the settings in one lmtools, will also change the settings in the other.

Hi @housemartin,

To avoid conflicts in the services running if both FME and ArcGIS license managers are on the same machine, you will want to specify ports in the license file.

This article explains in more detail as well as how to edit the safe license file to specify the ports used: https://knowledge.safe.com/articles/19459/arcgis-and-fme-on-same-flexlm-license-server.html

If you are encountering any issues with regards to the FME floating license manager, feel free to reach out to us on the support team here.

Hi @andreaatsafe,

thank you for the reply. Is there a article that explains the Flexera LM version needed for FME Desktop 2019.1.2.0 floating licenses? Like this on for the ArcGIS LM: https://support.esri.com/en/technical-article/000013214

Have a good day - Martin

We recommend using the latest Safe Floating License Manager release of Flexera provided on our website: safe.com/downloads but use of Flexera is backwards compatible, so an older version of Flexera will continue to work.

Hope that helps,

Andrea
