I'm new to FME, but i'm trying to figure out how to batch convert pointclouds from Autodesk Recap files (*.RCS) to *.E57 or *.LAS The manual says it should be able to recocgnize RCS files but i can't select that file type in a custom Reader.

Hi @robingriffith​ thanks for your interest in the Autodesk ReCap format. At the moment we only have a ReCap Writer available in FME.

We do not currently have a ReCap Reader in FME. However, we are looking at doing a full overhaul of the ReCap Writer alongside which we're looking at creating a ReCap Reader. I've updated our internal ticket tracking this update to add a comment here if the Reader is added to a release of FME. For your reference the ticket number is FMEENGINE-57472

Hey @robingriffith​ typically we do release both a Reader and a Writer, but in some cases we only have a Reader or Writer and not both. Sometimes the support for formats is limited by the external libraries we use when it comes to creating both a Reader and a Writer. In this case updated libraries have recently been released so we're working to implement a new Reader and an updated Writer.

I understand your confusion so hopefully that clears things up!
